finished Kaiser options classes tonight
Now, after sitting in prep classes for 12 weeks (how many times do they have to show us how to read a protein shake label?) now, more waiting. We were told it could take up to 6 more weeks to called for the psych appointment. Then, we have to wait for a bariatrician appointment, then more waiting for the consultation. On the positive side, we now have 3 hospitals instead of just 1. Fontana has added South Bay & West LA because the wait at St. Bernadines was months long. I know a few months isn't that long in the long run, I'm just concerned that my time will come, and I'll have to put it off if I find a traditional schedulae teaching job.

Woo Hoo! Thats great! I remember when I finished my Options classes on October 6th 2011 at Fontana Kaiser I was suuuper happy! I had a few set backs, I had a vitamin D deficiancy so I had to take prescription strength vitamin D for 12 weeks, then I had to take my labs again and they were good, then I had to wait for my pysch evaluation and an appointment with a bariatrician, and those took awhile, then when I saw the bariatrician, he told me I had to have my asthma under control, so I saw my primary and they prescribed me a steroid inhaler, then about a month and a half later when I emailed him and told him my asthma was under control FINALLY all my paperwork was sent to my surgeon, Dr. Fedorka and it took another month for my preop visit which was this last Tuesday, and FINALLY after almost a year since starting this process, I got my surgery date, July 2nd 2012 at St. Bernadines
Your process probably wont be as long as mine. Just think, you are almost there! Yay! I am kind of glad it took this long (for me anyways), cause I have learned soo much on OH and it has given me the time I needed to get mentally & physically prepared. I wish you the best. See you soon on that losers bench. Gabbz

Congrats.. The time will go by faster than you think, them all of the sudden it will be here. i finished Options at Kaiser fontana on Oct, 25th. had my Psych appt. & then Bariatrician appt., etc etc had my surgery March 8th at St. Bernardines. The hospital was awesome as well as the staff. You even get your own room. Hopefully you get to have it there. Although Im sure I would go where ever is the soonest. I had Dr. Fedroka and was very happy with him. I am down 52 lbs. my half way point. in 2.5 months. I have been losing an averagee of 3 lbs a week which is good for me not to fast or too slow.I did have a 2 week stall at 3.5 week and then another a couple weeks back. they always break as long as you stay on the program. Best of luck to you :-)
