Our GP is generally really great and super supportive. We'll find out his opinion on this in the morning, then think about our next step.

We talked to our GP this morning and he's on board. Filled in the online application for surgery by Dr Aceves. If all goes well I should have my date tomorrow!

I also went to Dr. Aceves. It was exactly as everyone said, and I was very comfortable going alone. The coordinator had awesome customer service, and responded to every email, or question within an hour. It was a small hospital, but more attentive to their patient needs than any hospital in Canada. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

My GP wasn't very accommodating at first. He runs a weight loss clinic too, so I think he was put off by it for that reason. He also never had a wls patient before, so he didn't know what to do, and actually told me to find another doctor who could help me with my after care. I was a bit put off by that. For this reason, I didn't go see him again, until I was already 2 months post op to request my first set of labs. Once I explained to him that I didn't need any special care, except some labs at required times, he was more cooperative. Haven't had any issues at all since.

I'm not Canadian, but wanted to chime in and say how much I loved Dr. Aceves and his entire team. Even the nursing staff was great!

My pcp here in the US was fine with me going out there, and between her and Gaby (Dr. A's follow up patient coordinator), I'm never in the dark about what I need to be doing, how my bloodwork looks, etc.

If I had to do it over again, I'd use him in a heartbeat. It went that smoothly.
