86lbs gone forever + girls nite out + pics
VSG on 03/07/12
I've been so reluctant to post pics because I have such a hard time seeing the weight loss. My birthday is June 5th - so my two dearest friends took me out to celebrate. We ate at Serpa's in Atlanta and then finished the nite dancing on the roof of the Glenn Hotel until early in the morning! It was great! And I felt great and thought this was a great time to share an update.
I started at 304lb - the most I've ever weighed in my life. I'm 5'8" and when I went for surgery on March 7th I was wearing a 3X/24 - 26 in women's plus sizes. My plan was to hold off on buying any new clothes until I hit my goal weight - but our little outing forced my hand. Yesterday I went to target - initially just to find a top to wear with a dress I already had (it was too big but I thought a fitting top could hide it). I ended up spotting a few black dresses in the regular size clothes (not women's plus :-O). I wasn't sure I would even be able to fit them - but I told myself if I couldn't, at least I would know where I was and how much further I had to go.
To my absolute surprise - I fit into a normal size large. NOT PLUS SIZED. Oh, did I say that already? lol One more time - NOT PLUS SIZED!!!! It was overwhelming - as I'm sure you all know - to actually fit in anything normal. I couldn't believe it - so I kept trying on more items - lol - just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. All nite I kept realizing how amazing it felt to no longer be the largest woman at the table - or the big girl at the party. I just blended in with everyone else and it was magnificent!!! I found myself crossing my legs for hours while we ate and talked and it never bothered me!
I'm only a little over half way there - but what a wonderful source of encouragement!! Hope you enjoy!
Me two days before surgery...

thanks melly37!!!! yeah - that's been my experience with target too - which made it that much more amazing. i had to take the dresses to the store associate to verify what department they belonged to - to make sure they weren't womens plus. rofl! i know she probably thought i was crazy.

it really is - and i'm still having a hard time believing it. i may need to make a few more trips to the store before it sinks in. ;-)
