Can't sleep

 My surgery on Monday got home yesterday .  I cannot sleep I have a bad headache and pain in my insecion.  I took some pain medication but is not helping. Any ideas or suggestion?

I just got home yesterday too. I was having a lot of trouble sleeping in the hospital, but gave in to additional pain and nausea medication. It made a world of difference. I did have some trouble yesterday trying to take a nap in the afternoo, but I was freezing to death. I took a short walk to the mailbox and brought my temp. right up. I have had headaches too. I think it's the lack of protein as well. I didn't get much in yesterday. Tried jello, but that was difficult too.
I am starting this morning with decaf tea and splenda. I am going to try very hard to get in atleast 40 grams of protein. I am very sick of the elixir, too sweet!
I slept quite well last night in my own bed. I propped myself up on three pillows and started on my right sided. I found myself on my bac****asionally. When I felt uncomfortable, I switched back to my right.

 I have found that taking a lot of narcotics will actually cause a headache.  Did you have something like a morphine pump or something when you were in the hospital?  If you used that quite a bit that may be the cause of your headache.  

When I came home from the hospital I got a horrible HA and took some Loratab.  It went away but I couldn't sleep for 3 nights and had to change the Loratab to Tylenol with Codeine elixir and was finally able to sleep.  Loratab was a stimulant too me.  It's a liquid Vicodin.  ;)

try a heating pad....worked like a charm for me...didn't even need the pain med once I started using that on my tummy...
