I'm 5'10", what would be a decent goal weight?

My goal weight used to always be 180, then I started considering VSG and I dropped it down to 175.  Is that a good goal weight?  Should I go lower?

I played with numbers on the BMI calculator, I am 5'9 and 3/4 lol but go with the 5'9 and looked for a low NORMAL bmi which is 135 for me but I have days where I really think that is way too low for me but hey I will be happy if I can get to 165 and I will, just might take awhile.

Some of the vets on here say to get to the low normal bmi because it will allow bounce back room while you being maintenance because your weight might fluctuate a bit until you find the key to your maintenance. So I had 145 picked for a normal bmi, once again will be happy if I can get there but not going to panic if I don't. I am large boned too so might be impossible.

I would aim for within high-middle of normal BMI range, it gives you some leeway to play with.. Keep in mind- it's not fixed, and it will most likely change as you get closer, but why not set it there and aim for it?

I set mine for the high side of normal (5'7" and 155) mostly since that was the lowest I ever saw from my last great weight loss attempt - 308 to 155.. didn't know if I could do that again since it was 15 years ago, but I did, and got lower.. and am heading down still as I realized that 155 was overweight on my  small sized frame. I couldn't accurately judge my frame size till I got smaller though.. So, set it where you have a challenge, but not somewhere unattainable.. it's nice to be able to say "I'm not done yet" vs. getting discouraged.. No one can really tell you a good weight, you may have a large frame, more lean muscle than some, or not. Plus, as you get into the normal weight range, you may find yourself really aiming less for a scale number and more for a certain BF% range.. which is frankly the healthiest way to gauge what's best on your body.

I agree with you there Jo, about the BF%. For a ball park figure that is how I worked out my weight goal by the BMI scale. My family really doesn't like the idea of anything lower then 165 for me the last time I had a big weight loss, they really think I will look unhealthy.

I know the discouraging part, it sure does slow down after 6 months.

I'm 5'9" and weigh 172-ish right now.  I would be fine if I stopped losing right here.

I am lifting heavy weights and working out pretty intensely, and think that I want the scale to finalize at 165, although I have reached the point that it's not about the number on the scale anymore.  I am more interested in adding lean mass and dropping my body fat percentage, which is really tricky to do at the same time.

At this point, I have amazing arms and legs, okay boobs and butt, and a bit too much tummy fat.  If I can get rid of a bit of the fat around my middle, I will be ecstatic.

I was wondering the same thing, but I am only 5'3".  My mom is 120 and the same height but looks sickly, so...I don't know.
