I had my surgery but I just got a denial from my insurance??!

I am FREAKING OUT!! I just got a letter from my insurance with a denial for my surgery.  HOW CAN THIS BE?

I tried calling the insurance but they are closed today.  My doctor office is also closed.  I am  freaking out.  I cannot pay for this surgery.  

The surgery coordinator from my doctor told me May 4th that my surgery was approved by my insurance.  How can this happeen?

 Maybe the letter and the approval got crossed. Like they approved it AFTER they had already sent out a denial letter. This can and does occur. 

Either the insurance office or Dr's office made the mistake. You will be okay. It is their mistake not yours. It will get taken care of by the Dr's office..

 If you were approved your doctor's office will have it in writing.  I had a kinda similar thing- verbally told that I was approved, set the date, then received a letter post surgery that I was denied because I was already post surgery and they do not do pre approvals for post surgery status patients.  The doctor's office worked it out for me.  Try not to worry too much, and its not like they can put your stomach back in you!

I know this is really tough - would be for me - but just try to find peace until monday morning.  You can't do crap about it now, don't let it ruin the next 48 hours for you.  Just try to put it on pause in your head and enjoy your weekend as best you can.

OOPss try not to freak out sometimes the insurance company & the doc's office have some communication problems. The same thing happened to me I had surgery in Feb was approved in Feb & in May I got a letter that said I was denied & it was in appeal status. I freaked out too because the total bill amount was something rediculous like 96 thousand dollars. I called the insurance company & it was all taken care of just some computer generated letter.

I received an approval letter in the mail before my surgery. I had my surgery and everything went ok. Then about 45 days after my surgery I got a denial letter. Um no.... The hospital was paid, my surgeon was paid, the whole team was paid...  It was some kind of mistake. But I do have it in writing that I was approved before surgery. Did your insurance ever send you an approval letter? I hope everything works out....
