What is everyone's problen with water intake?
Water has always been my drink of choice....pre-op. I'm about 6 wks post op and I still can't drink just plain water. I try almost every day. It bubbles in my tummy and creates what feels like acid reflux. But almost any and everything I eat and drink does that. And forget any of the protein drinks. They don't make me throw up but they do give me horrible diarrhea!! I developed a lactose intolerance post surgery and have discovered that the whey based protein drinks cause the same affect. I've tried egg based protein and soy protein and it's always the same result. I drink one and don't leave the bathroom for 2 days. It leaves me weak. I'm thankful to be this far out now and am getting most of my protein from foods. I'm not any where near 60 to 80g but I'm getting more than I was in those 1st weeks. I just do the best I can and keep forging forward. I've lost 35 lbs.
It's not that we don't want to drink water. Pre-Op I loved a big tall glass of ice water......now it simply does not make me feel good.
My stomach cannot stand ice cold water now....its literally makes me feel ill and starts cramping.
Now I can drin**** coffee, cold crystal light, cold ice tea, etc.....but plain water does it. I think it has something to do with the PH.
My personal solution is that I drink A LOT of very diluted crystal light or other sugar free beverage. The aspartame doesn't seem to bother me.....and I dilute the crap out of it.
For example....they say to use 1 packet for 20 oz of water....I use that same amount to make 2 quarts. It seems to be just enough to make my sleeve enjoy it.

How about well water? Maybe there is a taste issue with city water. I have well water and I swear I could bottle the stuff. I love our water but really can't stand any other water or bottled water. I buy bottled water but really only want the bottles to fill with my well water and use over and over. I have found I like the Smar****er that has the electrolytes in it. I plan to try that to help with dehydration. I have always liked water. I hope I still do after surgery. I can see how it could be an issue if you don't like water.
I've wondered about this myself. Water is probably the easiest thing for us to possibly ingest into our new sleeves so I'm not sure why its such a problem for some folks. I have always loved water and much prefer that over adding some flavor to it .. that always just seems to make me more thirst to get that artificial flavor taste out of my mouth. I doubt things will change much for you after surgery, though you wont be able to gulp like you probably can now.
I loved water pre-surgery my only beverages were coffee, water, and wine. Well the wine is out now, still drink my non-fat lattes, but really struggle with the water. I have never liked sweet drinks, so the flavor packets don't do it for me. So I have to force myself to drink the water. I absolutely have to track, because I frequently find that I get home from work and still need 32 or more ounces.so all night long trying to get it down. I don't think I've ever not met my 64 oz. goal, but I get so tired of fighting it and thinking about it!

I've never been a big drinker. Right after surgery, I had absolutely no hunger (boy was that nice while it lasted) and a lot of swelling, so it seemed to take forever, even to sip an ounce of water.
Now that I'm farther out and things have healed, it's still difficult to drink. Not as much as it was a first, just in a different way. It's difficult to characterize but I think my problem is with swallowing. It's like a bubble forms ahead of the water and makes it difficult--sometimes painful--going down. Adding flavoring to the water (Mio, Crystal Lite) even in very dilute amounts seems to soften the water somehow and that helps a bit.
