Thank you so much.  With such nice people as yourself giving me support, yes, I will do this!

You must be excited about being so close to your goal............I'm cheering you on -- great job!

If you recouped from c-sections on your own you can definitely recoup from this. My husband stayed home for the morning of my first full day at home and then I shoooed him off to work. I was mostly napping and complaining about being so bloated and he didn't need to be around for that.

YOU ARE WOMAN! No power in the 'verse can stop you.

Your husband is probably afraid - of many things. You get healthier and he has to still face his smoking, etc.

Thank you for your good advice.  Yes, recovering from a couple of c-sections when I was in my 30s was fairly easy............now that I'm nearly 65, I'm not so sure I'll do as well.  However, you are right about being WOMAN.......hear me ROAR LOL  I'm a Leo, so it's fitting

You made me laugh about shooing your husband off to work!  Wish i could do that, but he's newly retired and there's nowhere to shoo him off to!

How is that new sleeve?  Are you in the mushies yet or full liquids?  Only 8 days out for you and it looks like you have already made a move on your ticker.......WAY TO GO!!!

I'm hopefully going to get some mushy food this week. I have my first post-op follow up tomorrow.

VSG definitely gives you a new appreciation for black bean soup.

Hang in there!

Wow, your post almost made me want to cry. I'm so sorry you are not getting the support you need right now but you can do this. I feel so blessed right now. I had a band prior to getting sleeved last month and my husband has been so supportive through the whole process. He took off a week last year from work for me to get the band. Then he has been my biggest support all during my year of trying to fight the band. I had complications and my band slipped and he took off another week for my revision surgery. The morning of my surgery we got a phone call 10 minutes before I went back that someone had burned his mother's house down. We didn't even have time to discuss it. Following my sugery he got up and walked with me every hour and even took pictures of me taking my first sip of water 24 hours after surgery. In the following days we found out his mother had suffered a heart attack and was diagnosed with a terminal cancer. I knew he wanted to go be with her so bad but he didn't want to leave my side at home in case I needed him or had a complication, even though I kept telling him I would be fine. Last week when I was 3 weeks post op, we drove from Texas to Pennsylvania to finally see his mom. God bless you sweetheart. You can do this. You never know, he may turn back to supporting you.

OMG, I'm so sorry for all you have been through your MIL's house set on fire and then to find out about a heart attack and cancer...........so much to cope with.  I'm pleased for you that you have such strong support.  I bet you were great support for your husband, too, while you went through these trials.  I hope those problems are behind and that you are recovering and making super progress on your new sleeve.

You know, if i had done this 10-15 years ago, there would have been plenty of people nearby for support.........but when people reach my age, they retire and move to warmer climates and while staying in touch keeps the friendships alive, it's not like a friend who can drop everything and be there physically.  I have a decent support group for phone calls, e-mails and chatting online.  That helps, but again, not like face to face would be.

Thank you for your story and your encouragement.  Both help...........we must continue to learn that keeping problems in perspective is important -- what you went through reminded me of that.

And, yes, he was a little kinder today and when I returned from my pre-op appointments with my surgeon and nutritionist, he did ask what time WE needed to be at the hospital on Thursday.  It's not much, but it's better, so I will live in gratitude for that.

Will you add a ticker so we can see your progress?   Good luck.

Finished my last test this afternoon -- pulmonary function.  I told the Tech that I've been breathing for almost 65 years and I can attest to the fact that I know how to breathe LOL   Saw my surgeon and nutritionist for the pre-op final check.  All systems GO!  Yea Yea Yea!!!

I think your "I'm excited" stage will last........even with Sir Jerkwad's whackiness, and being fewer than 48 hours to go, I'm still excited.

And, yes, I've got your back.........you need/want help/advice, just let us know.......or send me a PM.  This forum is wonderful with lots of caring people.

YIPPPEEEE for all of us who have taken the reins and are driving ourselves to healthier lives!
