Well, i heard a very wise man say, you can't stop the birds from flying over your head - but you can sure stop them from making a nest in your hair.  i think you've demonstrated a lot of self- control - you recognized your feelings - gave yourself a plan of action - put enough time between your actions and overcame a very difficult situation because it. don't short change  yourself - this is what we're all working towards. not to never have those overwhelming thoughts and feelings again - but to handle the situation differently than we have in the past.  it's amazing how sometimes in our greatest moments of success we feel the weakest - but it's only an illusion - you exercised your strength and you won!!! so proud of you!!!

Always wonder if this protein centered diet would
Drive me to carbo-cravings. It happened once before
When I was on a "low carb diet". I went nuts looking
For sugary things(gained back all the lost weight). I am
hoping that a balance of veg and fruit is going to keep things
From getting crazy. Any ideas?

Congrats on beating the devil this time. I know exactly how you felt and it always surprises me too when it comes on so strong. I laugh when people say "never again" as I know this will continue to be a struggle.

I suffered from PTSD from the age of 12 and at age 50 underwent some rapid eye therapy which completely got rid of the flashbacks and strong emotion responses. The therapist described PTSD like you did with your thought process - it being  like a needle stuck in a record groove. I was stunned that within three session this life long issue was gone.  I wish they would invent something like that for emotional eating and cravings.  Much of my eating does stem from this event but it didn't improve with the REM treatments and I never discussed my eating with the therapist. I have never read anything about eating/bingeing and PTSD but I am sure I am not the only one.

I love your posts Happy and can really relate to you. Thanks for posting.
