So every night I take multiple pills but they all feel like the get stuck in my throat. When I swallow with nothing in my mouth I can feel something...what could this be and how can I avoid it.

Your pills might be too large. I would ask the pharmacist can your meds be crushed. All pills can't so I would ask before I bought a crusher. You can also get a pill cutter which simply cuts them in half.

My doctor instructed me to crush some of my meds and open some of the larger capsules and mix them with a spoon of jello or applesauce when I take them. I only have to do this for my first 3 months after surgery.

someone once told me that when taking a pill that is too big (especially in a dry throat) it bruises your esophagus so it feels like something it there when it isn't. I equate it to the feeling of a hat on your head after you have taking it off.

Make sure you mention this at your next dr. appointment.  This can be a sign of a problem with your esophagus.  The motility of your esophagus decreases with age as well. I have this a bit because of my previous lap band.

Make sure you take one pill at a time and drink lots of water in between.  Try warm water rather than cold as well.  These seem to help me get the pills "unstuck".
