Honest to God, it goes by like in the blink of an eye. For me anyway it didn't even hurt that bad. What hurrt worse was having to look at myself in the mirror how fat I had let myself get. The time spent in the hospital will go by like a blur(partly with the help of drugs). Just make sure you get up and walk often. The hardest part is the adjustment to not eating all the time. But initially you probably won't feel like eating anyway. This is a VERY exciting moment in your life. One bit of advice, really make the most of this, use this tool, this opportunity you are being given, this gift. Use the lack of hunger to really change the way you eat and treat food for the rest of your life. The sleeve will give you that tool. But over time it's effectiveness lessens, so make sure you put those changes in place. You will do great, best of luck!

Just wait until you're in the bed and they're prepping you for surgery. I wasn't worried at all until that moment and my head was constantly wondering whether I had truly passed the point of no return. "I could take that male nurse, if I had to. I might be able to take the security guard I saw at the entrance, too. All I have to do is steal my dad's keys and make it to the car."
Butterflies in my tummy? Maybe, but if they were butterflies they were iron butterflies having a heavy metal concern down there. Probably didn't help that it was my first surgery, ever. "Hey, what are you putting on my finger? Why is he sticking another needle in me? That guy is shaving my stomach, does that mean we're best friends now?" blah blah blah.
Like everyone has said, though, don't worry too much. Before you know it you'll be on sleepy juice and then you'll wake up feeling like you just ran a marathon, drunk. Then it all goes away and you get to learn how to eat again. Don't know what happened with your mom but there are risks with every surgery. Luckily for us, the risks are comparatively low, as long as you don't do something you're not supposed to.
Just try to think with your head and tell your stomach to shut up! hah

Thank you so much for your reply!! It made me laugh! I have had a lot of surgeries in my life so I shouldn't be worried but I am...lol My mom's surgery was a hysterectomy that was done laproscopy and they poked her intestines and didn't catch it and a week later she was unresponsive and we had to call 911 and that was June 25th and she is still in hospital today. She got septic shock and almost died. She has had multiple surgeries since then to try to fight the infection. She isn't even close to coming home. I think this is what scares me so much.
I know in my heart that I will be ok.. Thanks again for your reply..
