This one's for the girls!! TMI???
I have been struggling with writing this for a week, so please bear with me, and please GIRLS ONLY...
I was wondering if anyone out there has had issues with their body shifting (internally) after significant weight loss, like for instance a prolapsed uterus or bladder?? I have a "friend" who is having issues with both at the same time all of a sudden, and wants a hysterectemy, but whose doctor refuses to do surgery until she has lost all of her weight...plus the doc feels like she may be too young.
My "friend" knows this may have nothing to do with weight loss, but she just had a procedure in May and there was no mention of prolapsed anything...now, two months after surgery...BAM!

My mom had this problem and did not have significant weight loss. My mom was also very young. There are other things they can try besides surgery. Everything should be done before the hysterectomy is considered. Also I'd like to add that my mom continues to have problems. Surgery is not always the best idea. My mom was very frustrated for a large part of her life because of the early hysterectomy. Your friend needs to find a very good doctor with experience with these things. This is something that has been very hard for my mom to deal with.
I (I mean my friend, wink-wink) just can't win for losing (no pun intended)... it was a very scary experience and I have been experiencing a little bit of depression and anxiety over it ever since. It's only been a week. I thought I was getting everything in order with the sleeve, now this...just my luck!!
I had both about a year and a half before my WLS surgery. Along with my colon prolapsed. It was all due to the weight and childbearing years. I had a hysterectomy, Cystocele: Protrusion of the bladder into or through the vagina and Rectocele: Protrusion of the rectum into or through the vagina. during the same surgery. All the surgeries were done vaginally. All better now!
Have her talk to her gyn and a specialist for the bladder.

OMG!!! Tell your friend to hang in there ... My ob/gyn wants me to start considering a hysterectomy but isn't linking it to weight or weight loss. He said it would make me lose at least 2 lbs!!! Can I ask how does one tell if anything is prolapsed down there? I sometimes get stress incontinence, is that a symptom? Sounds positively terrible....
Lots of women have to have the basement refinished. It's pretty normal actually. Especially, if you've had children. My understanding is that weight loss to bring it on.
My mother-in-law had her "basement" updated a few years ago.
I don't know why your doc is making you wait, unless she/he thinks that you might have to go in a second time for some "upgrades." Your friend I mean.
If it gets worse, go back and talk to the doc again.
