Leaving Saturday on a 5-day cruise. Exciting right? Then I realized I wasn't sure how I would get all my protein in.

I know they let you bring a case of water and 2 bottles of wine or champagne onboard. Will they let me bring protein powder or shakes?

Does anyone have any insight on how best to do this?

Thank you so much!!

Yes they will let you. But it's very easy to get your protein. All sorts of meat, cottage cheese, cheese, etc. I just came back from one and I did not take any with me. It would have been easier but it was not hard. I lost 4lbs while on the cruise and I never made it to the gym.

If you are taking ready to drink, get yourself som one or two gallon ziplock bags to pack them in. If you are taking powder use quartt size freezer bags and make sure to pack your scoop. You can either carry them on or pack them in a suitcase.

Ok, great. You  just had surgery on September 28 and were comfortable eating all that? Cool!

My surgeon was liberal. I was on solids 18 days out.

I have just been using one shake a day to keep my protein as high as possible since I'm 18lbs to goal weight!

I wasn't able to eat that much but the variety was there.

Cruises are easy.  Lots of protein available - yogurt, meats, fish, cheese.  And most cruises have 24 hour a day buffets, so stuff is always available.

If you want to pack an emergency kit, get the snack size ziplock bags and portion out a scoop of protein powder into each of them.  Then you can just grab a bag and go.  Pack some packages of jerky, pouches of tuna and chicken, or whatever else you think you might need.  The only issue you might face is on the plane or at the airport, if you're flying at all.  But having your emergency pack will give you peace of mind!

So you have brought food onboard with no issues?

Yes.  I really don't think they care much about you bringing food on board.  Liquor - whole different story!

Oh good point. They are then feeding you less haha which is already covered.

I went on a cruise about 2 months ago. I was about 4 months out at the time. I packed protein powder in a zip lock bag. I brought enough for one shake a day. Hell I am a little over 6 monts out and still cant get all my protein in without a shake. You have to check it in your luggage bescause the airlines wont let you carry it on. Make sure you also pack a shaker bottle. I forgot my work out shoes...most cruise lines have an outdoor walking/running track and flip flops didnt work out so well for me! Have fun!

My husband and I went on a cruise when he was 5 weeks out. We took protein mix on board along with water bottles that we filled in the cafeteria. With all the seafood, he had no trouble eating. We both continued to lose weight during the cruise (I was 10 months out) and we had a blast. We opted not to take a case of water, we bought refillable water bottles with a filter and took those on board along with our shaker bottles for the protein drinks. Refilling the water bottles was easy and so much easier than trying to take a case of water.
