OK, here's my story.  I work with a team of consultants I meet with once a year.  They have known me for 10 years, so that includes my highest weight of 293 lbs.  I walked in this summer at 170 lbs or so.  The man hardly didn't register any reaction whatsoever. The woman gave me a long look and said (I swear, in all seriousness), "Did you cut your hair? It looks wonderful!"  My gf was with me, so she actually got to observe this since it wasn't the first time it happened but this time I had a witness.  I smiled and said I sure did - cut it all off (which I had).  So some people are just not as focused on *us* as we imagine they are.

I told my gf that I could have saved a lot of time, energy and money and just gotten a better haircut.

But, you know how much better we feel!!  It's all weird and new and strange and you'll really have a great time.  Keep it up!!

:) Happy

Bob, I am down only 24 lbs at almost 5 weeks and my situation is that EVERYONE is noticing or at least saying so... except MEEEEEE!!!! I can't see it at all. However.. my daughter did some before pictures and now we just did the one month after pictures wearing the same jeans... and boy oh boy can I ever see the difference!!!!! So funny how our eyes play games with our heads. Can't see it in the mirror but can see it easily on the side by side pics.
Anyway, whether you see it or not, the scale does not lie and you did really lose an amazing amount of weight in five weeks. Heck!! I'd be almost at goal if I had lost that in the first month!!!
You should be proud!

I have some skinny jeans that I can't even get up past my knees. I plan on taking a picture of myself with them on. Well, as on as they will get at this stage. I'm going to do a monthly picture and watch the progress of those pants movin' on up to my butt. and hopefully one day around my waist. I also agree that sometimes we think people notice our weight more than they actually do.

I know exactly what you are talking about.  It took me losing 60 lbs before my parents even noticed that I had lost weight (I had not told them about the surgery).   And it was in the 50-60 lbs lost range before I even went down a clothing size.  I remember crying in the dressing room at Dress Barn because I was soooo frustrated.

Then, BOOM!!!  After 60 lbs lost, the sizes started going down faster than a bunch of fat kids in a cart going downhill (a little fat humor from a former fatty :)  I  had to buy new clothes in smaller sizes about every 6-8 weeks.  I went from a size 24 to currently being a size 4.  IT WILL HAPPEN--I promise you.

Keep in mind that you are doing this for yourself and for better health.  After losing 141 lbs in 13 months, my current problem is that people I've known my entire life don't recognize me!!

Keep the faith--you can do it!

Ps  I have a post on OH showing my before and after pix--see for yourself    kiss

((hugs))

I understand what you're saying. I'm down almost 60 pounds and have lost only a couple of pant sizes. Most people at work don't seem to notice I've lost...some who I work closely with have mentioned it, however.

I don't let the outside world dictate how I feel about myself. This surgery is one of the best things I have ever done for myself, and I wake up every morning thankful and blessed. You can't let others control the way you feel inside when it comes to this.

I am sure those around you will pick up on the weight loss very soon.

Im down 55 and am still wearing the same clothes....it might be that people are uncomfortable saying anything b/c they don't wanna embarrass you or maybe they're worried that you're losing weight b/c you're sick or something!  You have a great attitude that will get you through!  Keep up the good work!!

Yep, lost 50 before anyone noticed.  Did go down a size the first 40 than seemed to drop 6 sizes in 15 pounds.  Never could figured this out.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.
