I think I will allow myself the time my body needs. I rather be safe than sorry. Thank for the advice.

I have NOT had my surgery yet but I did talk to my surgeon about the same thing. I work from home as a contract network engineer (no paid time off ever) and work both days and nights. I also have a 2 year old son who keeps me very busy. I will not have any help except for my husband when he is not working. therefore I need to take my son to daycare ( walking distance to my home ) since I may not be able to drive if I am on Meds. With all that said, my surgeon thinks I will be fine to go back to work within the 1st week or so based upon my previous history with surgery recoveries. Last surgery was emergency c-section and I did not take pain meds after the first day and was up walking around on day 2. I thought I was going to be in a world of pain an discomfort but that was not the case! Hopefully this surgery will be!!!

My surgeon won't release me to drive for 2 weeks. If it was not for the driving thing, I could go back immediately, I have a desk job.

My doctor also recommended four to six weeks, but I will probably take three. Although some members on  here that that was a bit excessive, to each their own.

I had no pain after my surgery, just a little sore.Physically I could have went back to work in a week or two.  I also had a foot surgery two weeks after my sleeve, which contributed to my taking 6 weeks off. But, emotionally and with the difficulty of getting food and liquids in for awhile, I would not have been ready at two weeks to return to work.Good luck to you.
