THANK YOU for posting "suck it up" about protein shakes.  "I can't tolerate any whey protein shakes" says the person who's able to drink milk or eat cottage cheese (filled with whey protein) just fine.  There are definitely exceptions, but for many people they're actually saying "this isn't a delicious fatty milkshake filled with calories and carbs that cause a huge insulin and dopamine response".

Go ahead!  Eat cereal!  Stuff your face with carbs.  "I need fiber!!!" (Because you can't get it outside of cereal)

Go ahead!  Eat macaroni and cheese!  "I didn't want what else was on the menu... I was forced to pick this low protein, high calorie, high carb meal".

Go ahead!  Eat cheesecake!  "It's got a little protein in it, and you have to live a little... like every day!"

Don't people want to make it to goal any more??  What's the point of having major surgery to only lose 40% of your excess weight?

Forgive me, bad mood tonight.

I agree with most of what you said... I just want to address one line:

"Don't people want to make it to goal any more??  What's the point of having major surgery to only lose 40% of your excess weight? "

Um... I don't care what the scale says... The tracker below is something to track as I've not found a pant size tracker.

I don't care how much of my "excess weight" I lose. It may only end up being 40%... if I end up with a 17% body fat, and the size I want I'm good with that. Even if the scale didn't suddenly become my 'friend' and show me what I want to see.

Yeah I hope the scale moves but if I have a repeat of the last 6 months where i lost 46 1/2 inches overall and only 25.4lbs with that (that was 9 inches off my hips and 8.5 off my waist alone) I am ok with not seeing the scale move. I'd have Skinny B*^(& status with a fat chicks weight. *shrug*

And what is the point of having major surgery... well you see... I'm actively seeking a secondary surgery and they wanted me to get below 250lbs before they would do it... It doesn't matter what size I am for them. It matters what weight I am. When I hit my goal size and am stable I will have it done. I am only sharing so that maybe I can throw it out there that sometimes our paths may be similar for different reasons.

The secondary surgery I need: To be blunt I need a "reduction" surgery because they "grew" (one did not both) and caused me to have a reduced functional reserve capacity (can't breath they are too heavy on my chest).

Just a different perspective.

Just wanted to address the whey thing you're pointing out here... I usually agree with your crazy ass, but... I'm one of the ones that has to be really careful of whey...

Keep in mind that whey protein usually is only 18-23% of milk proteins in things like cottage cheese and milk. A lot of us have a sensitivity to it. I'm a food allergy girl and have several of them along with sensitivities. Trust me, I'm totally allergic to soy and the whey was a surprise so I wouldn't wi**** on anyone. I did find a shake I could tolerate (ready to drink Pure Protein for those that are curious) but it has less whey than others and very little soy. If I drink more than 2 per day, I get sick.

So, it IS very real. I can eat cottage cheese and cheese. I can drink milk (although it can make me sick so I avoid it for the most part, plus I have some really weird beliefs around milk LOL). But some people DO have to be careful around whey.

There's actually some interesting research coming out about soy and whey and dairy allergies and sensitivities. I'm of the belief that we've created these because of our food processing, but.... yeah.

But yeah... I hear people say "But I can't find one that doesn't make me puke" and I want to say "well, keep looking" - if I can find one that I'm not allergic to and doesn't make me sick, ANYONE can. *laughing* I easily went through 50 of them before I found one.

I agree on the rest of it though. NO WAY I would lose on cereal or any of the other stuff I see some folks eating. When they say they're stalling 2 days later I want to scream. But if it works for some people... more power to 'em.

Heh... I was just talking to my husband last night... I want to lose it ALL, dammit. I came this far. That's meant cutting things out I used to COULD eat as I've gone along, but I got this, *****es!

Many, many, many people are lactose intolerant and this is where the pukey feeling with protein drinks comes from, even more so after stomach surgery.  I am not into liquid calories, even if they do have lots of protein.  I was a revision to sleeve from the band, so I could eat solids after about 1 week, so I was spared the protein drinks.

People shouldn't eat or drink things that make them nauseous, it is your body telling you that this is poison, plus most protein drinks are full of artificial sweeteners.

I am lactose intolerant, but I have no problem with yogurt or cheese.  If I put milk in my coffee, I feel like I'm gonna die!!  We are all not the same and I think we all need to understand that.
