Crack Slaw

1 lb lean ground beef
5 or 6 green onions, sliced
half a large head of cabbage, shredded (about 4-5 cups)
salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder to taste
1 Tbsp sesame oil
1 Tbsp low sodium soy sauce
a few splashes of seasoned rice wine vinegar (I used about a teaspoon)

Brown the beef in a nonstick pan with onion powder and garlic powder. Drain off the fat and remove the beef to a bowl.

Put the sesame oil in the pan and add the green onions and cabbage. Cook and stir over medium heat until cabbage is wilted and tender. Season the cabbage with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, soy sauce, and vinegar. Add the beef and stir. Heat through and serve.

My crack slaw recipe is:

1 pound ground beef
2 cloves garlic, minced
16 ounce bag coleslaw (or broccoli slaw)
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 bunch green onions, chopped
Red pepper flakes, to taste

In a very large skillet or wok, brown the ground beef with the garlic and a little salt and pepper. Drain the fat, add the cabbage and stir-fry until the cabbage is tender-crisp. Add the remaining ingredients and heat through. Adjust the seasoning to your taste.

I grew up In a family where a meal was McDonald's. I'm lost at cooking and I would be so appreciative for any help I can get!

Keith,

I agree with Sara above. I know how to cook and I enjoy cooking but this journey is going to take me in a direction and territory that I have never been in. I too have been scouring the net looking for dense high protein/ low low carb meals. Most of my ideas have come from the "whatcha eating" threads, frisco, you, and Elina not really much out there on VSG friendly foods.

Expand your search to low carb recipes. You will know what to leave out, things you can't eat. For example I cannot eat chicken yet, so any chicken recipes I make with turkey. You will be surprised at the number of recipes you will find. Also any quiche recipes you find you can pour the mixture into mini cupcake tins and make egg bites. You just have to be a little creative.
