Arnold makes a flat sandwich rounds that have a very similar nutrition profile.  My husband get them, so it's the only bread we have around.  But if you get tired of the Flat Outs, take a look at Flats.  You can also order a low carb pita bread from Netrition (made by one of the well known national bakers of pitas, but I can't recall right now).

It has great stats -- I used it on Atkins.  I have some in the freezer.  It was quite good, and half a pita was plenty!

Also look for Joseph's Oat Bran and Flax Lavosh.  .25 of a sheet is 25 calories 4 carbs and 2.5 net carbs and works great.  Its a flat bread and suitable for sandwiches, tacos, roll ups, and I've even made crackers with it.  Available at walmart and just saw it at one of our local grocery stores.

Keith, can you share the carb calculations with me? I haven't had surgery yet but it will be very helpful for when I do.

Its not an exact science because sugar alcohols all act a little bit differently. Fiber is another bit of a confusing thing, there is soluable and non-soluable fiber. But basically sugar alcohols and fiber can be subtracted from total carbs to give you the net carbs that your body actually digests. The problem is that many labels do not distinguish between soluable and non-soluable fiber so you can't always count on that. Sugar alcohols are a whole other ballgame. There are several different types and they are all different sizes so some get digested and some get partially digested. But again, food labels do not distinguish between types. So they all get lumped together, so many people on here do not like the idea of net carbs.

I loved Flat Out Bread before surgery.. Now I haven't had any since surgery, but they do make them in sliders size also.. I am not sure the stats on them but they are only the size of a slider so they would be rather small and would probably work out well.. You could go to there website and check out the stats.. I am sure they would have them on there.. just a thought..

I bought some of these when visiting my daughter in NB, and I confess I thought they were horrible. I loved the texture, size and the nutritional profile, but just couldn't get past the bitter taste. Perhaps I got a bad batch - or have weird taste buds.

I use 6" whole grain tortillas for quesadillas and Bread for Life flax bread (SaveOn Foods) for my occasional slice of toast. (70 calories, 6g protein, 9g carbs, 3G fibre)
