3rd Day Post-op
I was sleeved on Monday the 25th - Monday was a breeze - woke up not nausated, not in major pain - just sore. Guess the pain meds were working good!! No probs walking or sitting up. (I've had 2 C-sections so this felt like nothing).
Day 2 - started on liquids in hospital - weird cause I could feel them go down- stopped the IV drugs (Boo) and came home. Have Loratabs for nausea if needed and hydracodone. Slept some in bed and some in chair - walked in the middle of the night, etc. Not really bad gas pain but boy was I rumbling. I've typically gotten sick off of hydracodone so I've only had 2 doses with no nausea - taken the loratabs with it.
Day 3 - So far feel better than yesterday - starting on the Isopure and water .... wish me luck! Had junior Tylenol meltaways. Time to go walk around my house!
I guess the main thing is that it is so weird to feel things going down and all the rumblings.
Just thought I'd let you pre-ops know - surgery wasn't so bad - it's just getting the drinking in that's hard. (and getting in and out of your own bed).
I feel pretty much the same way you do. Getting in & out of bed is the hardest. My incision site above my belly button hurts a lot today. It's not unbearable just noticeable. I'm almost done with my first Premier Protein shake, I've been sipping it since 5:30am & I fell back asleep for 1.5 hrs. Sipping & walking is all I do.. Lol... I got 50ozs in yesterday. I didn't think that was a good job until another fellow sleever told me how great that is. I hope I can get in 70-100ozs of liquid with at least 60 being protein today..
The chicken broth helped big time yesterday. I love the Unjury chicken flavor.
I can feel everything going down & I can feel the burps as they come up. I just leave my mouth open when I breath and the burps just glide on out. So far I don't have head hunger, my stomach is mimicking hunger with the loud grumbles. I've already taken the Prilosec with a spoonful of applesauce but my stomach is still making really loud noises. Maybe it is hungry a bit? That I'm not sure of.
I think the absolute hardest part for me is taking the pain meds, they taste disgusting & taking sips of water or Gatorade is very hard because I feel thirsty and I'd love to be able to chug down some fluids. I won't do that though because I am not trying to throw up. So far no nausea or vomitting- Thank you God.
Stay in touch & let me know how things go for you today. It's so nice that we've both had pleasant experiences so far and are able to share our nice post-op stories because some of the ones that I had read in the beginning scared me..
Keep up the good work,
XOXO,
Hilary
You are right Hilary - guess it is the 2nd day post op!!! fuzzy brain here!
I hate taking the pills with applesauce - so bitter. I'm doing the Isomil grape - not so bad as I had heard. No premiere shakes for me yet - clear liquids for a week.
50 oz is great - don't think I got that in yet!
Last night I wasn't sure if my dog was growling at me or if it was my stomach - it was my stomach!!! Ha!
Hang in there - glad to know someone else is doing exactly the same! Guess we'll feel totally different by this time next week!
Good luck Married!
I had my sleeve done on the 25th also I'm hoping to go home today I've been walking my but off doing my breathing exercise and trying to get all my liquids down my nurse assistant was the 2nd gastric by pass patient in my hospital so she's been my biggest cheerleader. I get eggs for breakfast wonder how that's going to feel going down its such a weird feeling to feel it hit my stomach. Thy say I'm doing very well. My family and friends who have come to see me all say the same thing your face already looks so much thinner that's a great feeling. going to walk around hospital floor keep up the good work and jut keep thinking how good it will feel to go shopping and find things that fit![]()
