I am one of those people who struggle. Mentally, physically, emotionally but it must be done. My comparison to Elina was that she posted to hold herself accountable and so did I. She said she was going to get those few pounds off and I will too. Although I actually showed a loss this morning from yesterday.

For me maintenance will be no different from weight loss. I will have to make choices every day and I will either benefit from those choices or suffer the consequences.

The only thing that didn't fit into my plan last night was the extra wine. I planned on having a sip of each wine they we offering and I ended up drinking the whole glass and then an extra pour. Bad choice? Yes but it was a choice. I am back at my plan today hard and I have a weekend at Disney to contend with. But I will find a way for that to fit into my plan too.

My plan is modeled after your plan I am just not as good as you at sticking to it 100% like you are and I can't tell you how much admiration I have for your commitment. I would say that I am 95 to 97% compliant. And that 3 to 5% is something I try every day to improve upon. I am not now nor ever will be perfect in any way shape or form.

I was at Disney last week.  In CA Adventure (not sure if you're doing land or world?), there is a "Mediterranean Grill" type place that does all meat kabobs (steak, chicken, etc.).  You get sides, of course, and pita bread, but it was not a bad way to get some protein at the house of mouse.  There are also sauces, but you can choose the best looking one for your plan and put it on the side.

"Mortal sin..... right....."

Well more like a venial sin. I mean, he didn't kill a man.

But I think the key to success is to have a plan. I had my WLS in the Fall so immediately after I was subjected to a lot of parties and that time of year when people eat like crazy and justify it like crazy too. So I went  into every party with a plan. For that big party at work that is a completely indulgence-fest, my rule was that I was going to have ONE BITE of anything that looked good even if it was something like brownies or candy. And I did.

But no alcohol. I didn't have alcohol until about 6 months out when I was pretty close to goal. Alcohol not only decreases your restriction, but it decreases your common sense!

Wow yesterday you were kicking my ass and this sounds like you were defending me. Thank you. I often will take 1 bite of something. I log it and stay within my calorie budget. I think deprivation for me at least leads to overindulgence. I am satisfied with one bite now where as in the past I would not be. That got me through last night. The alcohol is not something I will consume for quite some time. This was an opportunity to taste some wines I cannot afford normally. Selfish? Perhaps but I am not sorry I did. Two of them were the smoothest wines I have ever tasted.

"yesterday you were kicking my ass"

Actually all I said yesterday is that I hate that damn show and why .... I never said anything about anyone else tha****ches it. You chose to get defensive and take what I said personally but it wasn't personal.

I'm a bit surprised you aren't being harder on yourself. I can totally understand your rationalizing this. I have done it myself! I'm not trying to "come at you" b/c I have been there and don't know what I would have done in the same situation. I'm just pointing out that we need (and I'm reminding myself at the same time) to use this weight loss phase to its maximum ability. I think when we hit maintanance is when we find the balance but in weight loss we need to stick to the plan. That said, I'm NOT perfect and have made bad choices along the way too. I think it's important that we acknowledge our errors so we hold ourselves accountable. You have done that and seem to know you will need to work harder to get it off.
As you know, it's not a math equation like others may think. If so, I would be way down this month instead of stalled.
I hope not to offend you. You come across as a "keeping it real" type of guy. I just don't think it's ok for any of us in weight loss, myself included!

Not offended at all. This is exactly the kind of feedback I expected. This is about accountability not justification. The reality is we are faces with choices but it was a choice. I didn't buckle. I didn't cave. I made a conscious choice to do this knowing and planning for the recovery from it. It was a rare opportunity and I am glad I did it. I was one of 40 people invited to this. It was well worth it but if I didn't put it here I couldn't evaluate it.

I read on your page where you wrote that we should "beat harder" instead of "not beating ourselves up" over bad choices. Even mindless eating is a choice. Just because we "plan" ahead, it's not ok to go over our calories by 916 during weight loss.

Maybe my own fears of not making it to my goal are coming out here and Im being too harsh. Im 25lbs away from goal and working my ass off but am not seeing scale results.

Hey, maybe your bump in calories will help you! Let me know.

My weight was down over a pound from yesterday. Maybe I won't see the effects of last night until tomorrow but there are some low carb enthusiasts the encourage a carb loading day to accelerate weight loss.

I knew I would take some flack for this but 900 calories is less than 1/3 of a pound. I had less than 2000 calories which is still by any definition a low cal diet.

I have some ideas for you on the last 25 but I won't post them here because I am getting enough heat for my escapades.
