18 miles in 2 days and follow up to my 916 over calorie day

Well I certainly took my licks from the vets and even some noobs on my 916 calorie overage from last wednesday. Thank you all for that. I just wanted to say that many of you are right. It is very difficult to get back on track and I certainly had a few moments in the last few days when I was craving carbs or just wanting to eat because it was there. Fortunately I was able to stop myself and my family helped too. My daughter is always there to say "No Daddy" when she even sees me thinking about it. Of course we were at DisneyWorld and Universal Studios Islands of Adventure theme parks the last 2 days so the smells in all the junk food stands didn't help matters. I did survive and I am happy to report I stayed on plan.

On another note according to my Fit Bit we walked a little over 18 miles in the last 2 days while going through Disney's Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Islands of Adventure. My legs hurt really bad today but I could never have done it at 384lbs.

Oh and btw I am down about 2 lbs since my eating and drinking debacle.

Thanks again everyone for not only the harsh words of correction but the supportive words I got in the thread and via private message. This forum is to not only discuss our successes but our failures too.

Got to love amusement parks to rack up the miles walked!

It truly is the "back on track" that becomes the hard point after one of those days. That's why so many say not to do it.

Glad you managed to stay on plan.

Good lord!! I missed your post so just went back and read the thread, parts of it in complete and utter disbelief at some of the responses. Not exactly what I call support, but then I live on the other side of the world so it's probably something to do with opposite hemispheres causing it to get lost in translation...lol

In my real world, I was at a function on Wednesday and my meal was two pieces of sushi as that was what was being served at the luncheon. Still a 650 calorie day but undoubtedly I too am now doomed to failure.

18 miles and back on track. Great Job!!

regards

Wow you made me curious so I went and read the original and responses. You are right this forum is SUPPOSED to be for successes and failures but if you are one of the "failures" ( I use that term loosely) You definitely get your a** handed to you. I know from personal experience on this forum that you also NEVER want to express an opinion that does not fit in with the "popular crowd"  and their weight loss rules. I enjoy your posts and have benefited from some. I think it is time for a little more tolerance on this forum for the fact that we all don't fit into the same mold...that does not mean we won't be successful. Oh and before someone decides to "throw me under the bus" I am not saying go out and overindulge, I am saying do what works into your plan both physically and emotionally to get to your goal. I just wish before people posted with such obvious anger that they would take a moment...as I understand it this forum should be to help. There is a difference between adding a bit of constructive criticism and just being mean/over reactive. Now I brace for the responses.

There is a lot of tough love on this site. I di**** out myself on occasion. I try to be helpful and constructive when I do it. I think those that feel threatened by this kind of behavior are more worried about themselves and that is fine. I wonder what happens at an AA meeting when someone falls off the wagon?

It is a simple formula, but the problem is that we are all human and we make mistakes.

I read your 916 calorie post shortly after you posted it so did not see all of the replies, and did not reply myself, but now I wish I had...When I read your post, I felt relieved.  I did not read it and think "He's human...He's made a mistake."  I read it and thought, "He is human and he's made a conscious decision to eat and drink more than he probably should on a given day.  He planned ahead, he's accounting for how to deal with it, and he sounds like he really enjoyed it!  Good for him!"  I am all for discipline and commitment, but I have also found a constant state of self-denial has never been effective for me, or for many people.  I think you have made a decision to be disciplined and committed on a daily basis, and for one special night decided to treat yourself.  I wouldn't call that a mistake.  I know some people's philosophy is to never go off plan while in the weight loss phase, but I admire your ongoing commitment AND your ability to do something special WITHOUT falling off the wagon.

I think in retrospect the mistake was not realizing how hard it would be and I can see how some people would fall off the deep end in this situations. The carb cravings and head hunger were definitely WAY worse than if I hadn't done it. So while it was a conscious decision it was also a small derailment too. I could very easily eaten bread and popcorn and churros all weekend. It crossed my mind frequently. I did eat a few more calories than my plan this weekend but I was burning so much that I lost a couple lbs.

Being one of the " popular crowd", I take a small amount of offense to your response.  I try to post constructive comments, even when they are criticisms.  I was hopeful that my perspective may help Keith in some way, if you don't find my support "supportive" to your efforts, I would suggest that you block me and all others that cause you grief.

Keith, I always knew you would find your way back to where you need to be on this journey.  You do like to push limits, but you also face your own reality and refuse to settle for less than what you deserve.  You will always find your way back to where you need to go.  I have total faith that you will make it, the real struggle for you is going to be in keeping it.  But the truth is that this is a real struggle for most of us, so welcome to the human race. :)

I come to this forum to read a variety of responses and opinions. Although constructive criticisms can be good, they often go too far. I did not put down individual names because I did not feel that was necessary and I still don't. I have said in the past and will reiterate here that I think it is good that people that have already traveled this road or the "vets" take the time to offer information and tips. I will also reiterate that there is more than one successful way to get to goal. It is unfortunate that you took offense to my response and I do not feel the need to "block" anyone. I am fully capable of skipping certain posts and I often do. Since this is not the first time you have taken personal offense to one of my postings I guess you may feel better blocking me. We all need to do what we see is best for our own path. I have found some useful information in some of your posts also...as I have in Keith's. Now again I will take a few days away from this site and let the criticisms fall where they may.
