Just to let you know ...

Last year I went to Mexico for my VSG with Dr. Alberto Aceves. The cost of the surgery was $8750. plus flights.

I applied to Alberta Health Care for an Out of Province Medical Surgery refund

AND Yesterday I received my refund cheque of $2027.00

It took a while and a couple of different submissions for a very detailed receipt from Dr. A office. As always Dr. A office was great to deal with and I got the requested receipt within a couple of days.

Now I will claim it on my income tax and see if I can also get a reimbursement there as well.

Alberta Health asked for the name of every Dr that dealth with me and the cost. The lab, anesthetist, Dr. campos, Dr. Aceves etc. As Nina is familiar with AB needs now I am sure if you ask she will supply it no problem.

Good for you! Getting this surgery in Alberta is ridiculous.

When I did my research you couldn't get VSG in AB. It was $20,000-$25,000 in ON

Whoa! I have a co-worker getting the VSG in Red Deer on AHC tab, less than 1 year wait time.  I went to Mexico paid $6700 CDN.

Can I tell you how my receipt looks and you can let me know if its good enough?
