Surgery today - March 4th
I had my surgery today at 11:30am... Its now 5:30 and I'm home and feeling fine!! I go to Puget Sound Sugery Center - and they did it as outpatient with the option to keep me. I was waking up by 12:30; awake at 1:00 and walking by 2pm. Really no pain. Just discomfort of the stomach muscles when I try and get up from sitting - but it's really not a big deal (feels like too many situps).
Also - i walked several times - and the more I walked the stronger I got. Was getting the discharge papers by 4:00.
I have cotton mouth from the meds - so it provides great motivation for sipping water.Which makes you have to pee - so it makes you walk. Had a 'burp' stuck after I woke up for about the first hour - but sitting up and then walking cured it.
Gonna go chill and take a nap on the couch. I just wanted to let you all know - 6 hours post-op and I feel great! I know there are several people with sugeries tomorrow and coming soon. Be encouraged - it was no big deal (for me at least). Go in with the attitude this is going to be great - and hold onto that. You've researched it - you know what to expect - but it can be an experience like me too - so where I feel fine - just a little sleepy now.
Good luck upcoming VSGrs!!
Sandy

Yep - today is one day post op. I had to go in for fluid ivs so that I don't get dehydrated. But I feel totally fine. I asked them if they do 'placebo' surgeries - because other than the apparent incisions holes in my belly - I can't tell they did anything! My insides feel fine. I think I'm a freak. No pain, nothing. I am still only on clear liquids through today - then tomorrow I can have protein shakes, etc.. Had water yesterday, and about a 1/4 cup of chicken broth, and about 1/8th of a cup of jello. Probably the same today. I'm not hungry - but I feel that I should eat -- just because its that head hunger and habit. But I will follow the doctors / nutritionist plan to the letter and I think that will also ensure a speedy recovery on the inside - even though I can't feel it. :)
I wish this type of recovery on all of you - as it's really amazing - I forget at times that I had surgery yesterday.
