I have been so blessed to have had a great time of everything so far but i am constipated to the point of pain when i go it is almost unbearable. I decided to take Miralax last night. Do any of u have a suggestion of what worked for you? Thanks in advance for your help.

I was very constipated after surgery, and MOM did the trick to unplug me, so to speak.  For on-going issues, I started taking fiber gummies twice a day, though was eventually able to cut back to once a day when I could get more fiber into my diet.  Smooth Move tea also helps.  For flair ups, which I've had since a colonoscopy 2 weeks ago, I increased the fiber gummies back to twice a day.  Some folks use products like Benefiber daily, or Miralax.  I don't know how far out you are, but once you can add more fibrous foods to your diet, it does get a little better.  Also, keep the fluids coming, as that helps the situation as well.  Good luck and hope things improve quickly for you!

Day 9 post-op was the worst for me too!  I called my surgeon's office, and they told me to take MOM, which I did.  It worked almost too well!  That day was the only day that I have ever cried and asked myself what did I do to myself.  The very next day I felt better than I had since surgery.  I am 18 months out and have been fine since.  Hopefully, you'll get past today and have a similar experience.  Keep us posted!!

I make Miralax KoolAid (using sucralose), and I dump a couple of capfuls in  the pitcher.  That way, I'm getting a slow consistent dose of Miralax every day.  Or on days when I take iron, I make sure to have a little more KoolAid than usual!

This has worked really well for me -- the key is figuring out how much you need to take.  Not enough -- problem still exists.  Too much, and well, you have a potentially explosive situation!

I did this from day one, and it did the trick for me!

Good luck!

Early on I had to regularly include benefiber in my diet. I took it every day.

Now that I'm on maintenance and eating more than protein and a bit of veggies, I am pretty regular. I do have to watch my fluid intake though. If I fall behind in that, I do tend towards constipation.

So.... WATER, WATER, WATER!!!

I never had a problem after surgery as for me it was liquid in, liquid out.  Once I started introducing solids back into my diet then I started having problems.  I occassionally have some oatmeal.  The biggest thing for me has been that I take Fiber Advance gummies and while I am not as regular as I was before surgery, it sure has helped!

It depends on how far out you are.  I have to take fiber supplements every day to stay regular.  I use the gummy fiber 3 times a day.

OMG!  I was the same at 9 days out.  The most painful thing I have experienced since childbirth!  Horrible!  Anyway get MOM and take 60 mL twice a day.  You will have relief within a day...promise!! I have had issues a couple times since surgery and have pretty much figured out that if I take 6o mL once a day, every other day, I am good.  I love the stuff because it  doesn't upset my stomach and it works.  Believe me, I know your pain and it is NOT fun!!  Good luck!
