My husband follows a paleo plan. In fact, I just finished making some paleo brownies!

My reasons for eating a more balanced diet instead of the Atkins/Paleo are many.  Here are two:

Dr Atkins:  "a leaked copy of his actual death certificate. The autopsy report medical examiner's report shows a 77 year old white male with a medical history of myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, and hypertension. The hand writing reads of these three conditions"

Paleo:  among other articles and books that I've read, there was a recent article about our ancestors and that they "also" had clogged arteries, like people today.  While they didn't have processed food like we do, the one food we had in common was meat.

Getting enough protein post-op is difficult, especially when one doesn't want to eat animal products all day.  But, for me, healthy arteries and heart are as important as the skinny jeans that I'm hoping to fit into.  :)

Interesting. What is a typical day for you then?  Lots of chicken and fish?

I'm only 2 months out, so I'm somewhat following Paleo, but not 100% yet. When I get further out I plan to go completely Paleo.

Bought a great Primal book last week," It Starts With Food" by the Hartwigs. Good read!
