My house smells like chocolate cupcakes.
I'm getting ready for my daughter's 7th birthday party tomorrow, so I've been making cupcakes and little seashell meltable candy mold things for the tops of them (frosting is next). It smells amazing, but I'm not nearly as tempted to try one as I thought I'd be. Thanks, sleeve!
I only made 24 and I think there will be 20 kids tomorrow, so hopefully they are all gone when the party is over. I will be so busy I doubt I have time to think about it anyhow.
I can relate! My 13 year old daughter Marissa thought she would be helpful while I was in bed after my surgery the other day. I woke up to fresh baked brownies AND Chocolate chip cookies! She came in the room with them staked high on a plate to show me they were perfect and she didn't even burn the bottom. I was mortified! I only smelled them, but with my VSG being new, it was very hard to not have one. Kids , you gotta love 'em
So far, so good! All but 4 cupcakes are gone. 3 are reserved for my hubby & kids tomorrow (her actual birthday). That 4th one I may toss.
I did have to try a tiny bit of the frosting when making it as I didn't have anyone else here who could taste it (and if you've ever made frosting you know you have to mess with it a bit to get the flavor/texture balance correct). But the good news is it didn't derail me and I really tasted as little as possible just to make sure it was right.
And look how cute they turned out!!!!
The party was fun, but I was right--I was so busy running around and keeping kids busy I didn't even have time to think about cupcakes. I was so exhausted we ordered pizza for dinner but I ate some lean deli meat with mustard and then had a really great chocolate pb protein shake. I may make another tonight!
And, just because this is funny--there was a mermaid at the party who did face painting, a magic show, and balloon twisting. During the magic show, my fabulous dog, Darwin, decided to walk right up beside the table and leave a "deposit" on the lawn. 20 1st-graders started yelling "GROSS!" That poor mermaid.
