The Life of Pie

Something has been happening lately on the carb front with me....BIG cravings.  I made a deal with myself that I could eat anything I wanted if I did three things first:  1) drank water 2)  ate a healthy snack (protein/veggie) 3) meditated for a bit on my health/weight and all the things that are important to me.

My carb cravings started to come with a visual...the tiger from Life of Pi.  I read the book and didn't want to see the movie, but I was fascinated by the great job they did with the tiger animation.  That tiger is amazing looking.  And that's what my carb cravings look like to me.  Occasionally while I was fulfilling my three requirements I would picture that tiger sitting in his little mind cage viciously swiping an arm out at me and kind of mocking me "yeah, go ahead and do your little 3 steps....I can wait".

So I added a 4th step.  I've got to just stay the hell away from the tiger.  A little piece of chocolate is not going to make him happy and stop swiping at me.  He's got bigger things in mind.

I think of myself as an addict, similar to an alcoholic.  I have an addiction to junk food.  I wouldn't let an alcoholic have a little bit here or there, so why would I do that to myself?  STAY STRONG!  :)
