Morning Star Veggie Burgers - PIZZA BURGERS!
In my "healthier" modes in the past, I was addicted, in a good way, to Morningstar. The Asian and the Spicy Black Bean are my favorites. They both have a lot of flavor on their own. The Grillers are good if you are going to serve them like a burger but I thought they needed more doctoring than the other 2. I love mushrooms and tried the mushroom lovers one and wasn't a big fan. I never tried the pizza ones with "pizza" stuff... that would make sense and I bet I would like them more. I had it in my head that they were "burgers" that tasted too pizza-y. Definitely worth a try.
FYI, I am a vegetarian, so I have eaten these both before and after surgery.
In case it's helpful, I do want to point out that the Boca burgers (the ones that mimic a real hamburger), give you more protein and fewer carbs than Morningstar and Gardenburger. The vegan Boca patties have even fewer carbs, but don't taste as good.
Also, I can vouch for the Morningstar veggie meatballs--they're great with a little Pico Pica sauce.
The Morningstar veggie corndogs are awesome, but way too high in carbs and fats for me as a post-op. Maybe some day when I'm in maintenance.... :-)
I was raised on all things vegetarian. I have had the MSF and the Loma Linda and Worthington foods my entire life. I do love most, if not all of them, however, soy is not a good choice for women and now that I found out that MSF has GMO and that concerns me. It's surprising since MSF is "trying" to be a healthy option for those of us who eat meatless.
I make my own veggie burgers with lots of nut meal and veggies and a little brown rice and egg. They taste much better and I know I am not consuming GMO or Soy.
