Hair Loss
Oh I am going through it now! lol I'm actually about to get my hair cut on Thursday because it went from super thick, to super thin. It will grow back, and from what I've seen with my friends going through it, it comes back thick, healthy, and shiny. One of my best friends had her hair come back around a year out. I'm hoping mine doesn't take that long, but then again, it's only hair. :)

I have lost a looooot of hair. My hair was so thick now it thin. I just got it all chopped real short. It's actually growing back now. I take my vitamins religiously always have and pre op I started biotin and still lost lots. So I quit taking it. I'm not worried I like short hair not this short but it will grow back.
Your hair goes into a "natural" dormant phase because of the shock of the surgery and the low amount of nutrients we get afterwards. Your body will use the nutrients it does get for important organs to function and hair isn't important in the grand scheme of things, so those hair follicles die and are slowly pushed out by new growth in underneath. This is why most people start losing it at about 3-4 months. (Some get lucky, but most don't).
No amount of protein or any other supplement will stop this process from happening.
Taking Biotin will help with the regrowth and you will also get super strong nails as a bonus.
Mine started falling at about 3 months and is almost back to normal at 6&1/2 months in terms of daily loses being about normal. I have lost about 40% of my volume, but no one else has noticed. I just wa**** far less (twice a week) and use dry shampoo on the other days. It looks thicker being a bit dirty and I just wear it up a bit more than normal, but its fine and it WILL grow back

I am six months out today and so far no hair loss. But I am starting to think that I am really wierd because I really have had no issues at all. Not a single one. I have incisions and I don't have hunger and I have decent restriction and a 61 lb loss since the day of surgery but apart from that it is really as if I didn't have my stomach removed at all. Oh, a tiny umbillical hernia, yes, but that is a good thing because that means I get a free tummy tuck since my insurance doesn't care what surgeries you combine. I will get the hernia fixes and get as much body work done at the same time as possible. All will be covered. So the hernia is a blessing in a way. Maybe you will also have super good luck like me and will not lose hair and all that. I hope this for everyone who has this wonderful surgery and my heart goes out to all thise who are having a difficult time post op. I wish I could take away some of the complications and "share the burden" somehow. Good luck to you!
