I'm Still a FAT Guy
Dude, you did it! Who the hell cares what they looked like!!!! You tried and that's what's awesome!
Look, I'm 17 months out and have been in my goal range since July. I still feel like a fat dude most days. I caught a glimpse of myself today in a car window and was amazed once again that the reflection staring back at me was ME!
The more you do "thin" things the more confident you will get. You'll have some fun with it, too. I promise!
goal!!! August 20, 2013 age: 59 High weight: 345 (June, 2011) Consult weight: 293 (June, 2012) Pre-Op: 253 (Nov., 2012) Surgery weight: 235 (Dec. 12, 2012) Current weight: 145
TOTAL POUNDS LOST- 200 (110 pounds lost before surgery, 90 pounds lost Post Op.diabetes in remission-blood pressure normal-cholesterol and triglyceride levels normal! BMI from 55.6 supermorbidly obese to 23.6 normal!!!!
Burpees are HARD, especially in the beginning, It takes awhile for our heads to catch up to the changes in our body. I am about 33 months out, maintaining within a few pound range, and my head still hasn't caught up to where I am at now.
next time, have your friend show you how to do mountain climbers. -:).
also, if you haven't mastered doing body weight squats, the Smith machine is not the place to start. You can get hurt, so be careful. You need to get the form down and to have developed core and leg strength, according to my trainer. If you have the form, feeling down, it is safer to move to dumb bell squats. The Smith machine is fairly advanced and going from body weight to 100 lb squats maybe dangerous and I'm sure that you don't want to blow out your back or knees.

If you wanna see ugly you should have seen my workout where I had to start with 100 pushups... I swear I look like a fish out of his tank flopping around on the floor! I have done some serious face time with the gym floor!

Burpees are pretty awful. but in the end, you did them.
and um, when I do them, my skin applauds me. It's kinda not funny, but at the same time, it is. So I laugh to myself and every one else wonders, wtf is that noise? ;)
and when you get down: Imagine yourself doing those burpees at your old weight. Pretty freaking hysterical huh? Yeah. Was never gonna happen. So 1 burpee or 12 burpees now is much better than 0 burpees then.

Much welcome.
It's all about perspective. It's easy to get down on ourselves and compare ourselves to others, but dang it, we are accomplishing something by getting our (now smaller) butts off the couch.
I'm many months postop and just recently started to really work out. and damn, I'm proud of myself. I never ever ran before and last week, I ran a 5K. Just like that. No Couch to 5K training program...just hey, here's the workout today: run a 5K (with a bunch of other stuff too...). and I did it. and I wasn't last. and there are other days that I am last, and that's ok too. I am not on the couch. Eating chips.
mmmm. chips. :)

Thanks for the youtube video. Now I know how to do the beginners as I am never allowed to do a push up or put full weight like that on my arms which goes to the neck because of two neck surgeries..
