Anyone Eating Paleo or Primal????
I've been in maintenance for about a year and a half, and found my weight drifting upwards. When I got to 15 lbs above my bottom weight, and 10 lbs above the weight I settled at after maintenance set in, I decided to do the Whole 30 plan, a 30-day, fairly restrictive Paleo style of eating. Very similar to the usual WLS plan, except no dairy at all - bye bye Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese sticks, etc. And I previously would eat beans peanut butter, and artificial sweeteners, no more.
In five days I've lost 6 lbs. I know most of that is water weight from reduced inflammation, but I'll take it. (By the way, my arthritis feels better, although in only five days I'm not expecting a lot there. Yet.) So far so good as far as the food goes; I never did get back into sugar or grains/carbs, so that part was easy. After the 30 days, you slowly and mindfully reintroduce SOME things (other things never come back). Just reminds me a lot of WLS eating, only just a bit "cleaner," at least for me.
2 years post surgery. Loose Paleo diet for last year or so. 119 or so pounds, 5'11" and size 0/2.
Works for me. I eat mostly fish, beef, bacon, eggs, seafoods like scallops, clams, etc. Mushrooms, asparagus, fruits.
I know we are all so different, but this is worth a try if you think it will work out with your lifestyle. I have a husband and kids that eat crap food so I pretty much eat separate from everyone ever since surgery. They are unwilling to change their lifestyles and I am absolutely unwilling to give up mine. I love it now.
