Thank you.  I don't know about being one hot 55yo, but I will say that my wardrobe has improved vastly since my last birthday.

I have to say I have been trying to not be so hard on myself lately.  I am still struggling to lose the last 1/2 of my recent regain but I am just trying my best to make the best food choices I can.

Now, what I really need to do for myself is get to sleep sooner.  I have been falling into that pattern of going to bed late again.  That is something I really need to work on.  These dark circles under my eyes are not pretty!!!

Since this has been such a long recurring issue for you have you considered trying meditation and other relaxation techniques?

I have this problem too but mine is trying to fit too much into one day and pleasing everyone. i have started to say no and I am getting a bit more sleep. New puppy isn't helping much though.

Keith,  thanks for posting all the good info which I can use.

I am a newbie trying to lose weight so I can have the surgery.  I have 15 lbs to lose.

Here is what I am doing for me this week.

Stay true to my diet plan.

I started working with a PT yesterday. Yea.... I am sore today! Looking forward to another on Monday!

Go to the gym during lunch break  today and do 30 mins cardio.

Gym on Fri, Sat, Sun  - 30 mins cardio and 30 mins strength training.

Stay focused and determined.

I can DO this!!!

Sounds like you are off to a great start. My advice would be to not overdo it in the beginning not because it won't help you but because you don't want to be sick of what you are doing. You want to incorporate it into your lifestyle and I see a lot of people go gung ho in the beginning and then drop off after a couple of weeks. Use your personal trainer to teach you some exercises and then take some time off, don't use your PT as a daily work out buddy, you need to be able to do this stuff on your own. Do your routine for a couple of weeks and then schedule a couple more sessions to either step up or change up your routine. You don't want to stick to the same routine for too long, your body will get used to it and you will stop losing.

Good points.

When I was with the PT yesterday, I told her to teach me the equipment so I can do this on my own.

I tend to be an "all or nothing" kind of a person.  I do need to learn to balance.

I am just sooooooo wanting to get these pounds off so I can have the surgery!

Being all or nothing and really wanting to lose are both very good traits. Balance is important because you can easily get burned out and that will derail you.

I think of starting to work out as learning about the stove when you are a child. You never really know the stove is hot until you touch it then you learn to listen to your mom. Working out is a little the same way if you find out the stove is hot when maybe it is only warm you may never go back. I think a lot of people starting out pay their membership, go for the next 5 days in a row, realize they have sweat through everything they own so they have a lot of laundry to do, they are sore and tired and the next week they "take a couple days off" and they never really make it back.

Sounds like you are gonna be OK though! Keep it up.
