Room to Spare NSV

I hopped a flight to Nashville this morning and for the first time in my adult life I fit comfortably into a commercial coach seat with room to spare AND about 3 inches of left over seat belt. While I did not miss the seat belt extender I did feel insecure without it.

Of course the woman sitting next to me was more than accomodating in taking up my unused space. Now I know what I put people through for years.

Just want to say sorry to all of those over the years whose space my sweaty ass cheeks infringed upon. I have been paid back today.

This is a wonderful NSV!!

My flight home from Mexico after surgery was so uncomfortable because I KNEW I was infringing on people's space. I almost apologized to the people next to me for my fatness, but elected to just sit there in shame and pain (and not just pain from surgery; pain from sitting with my arms crosses, scrunched up as much as I was able to scrunch). The next time I fly, I WILL fit in my seat, and only MY seat.

What a great NSV!

There is nothing worse than walking down the aisle and seeing the looks on people faces.....please do not sit next to me, just keep on walking....ah. Then having to pull out the seatbelt extender.

I know the feeling and I am so happy for you.

BTW, Have fun in Nashville!!

Congrats!! I know exactly how you feel, as I just returned from a trip.  Although I took jetblue (bigger seats), and still took an aisle seat so I could lean out if necessary, I could tell there was extra room, no problem with tray, seatbelt, and not those looks of horror.  I'm still big, but 75 less than last time I flew.....However, because of memories of those looks (sometimes audible groans) of horror (I commuted on a bus for years so it was a daily dread), I vowed forever that if a heavier person sat next to me, I would be welcoming and tell them not to worry and be comfortable....oh, the folded arms/squooshing of ones self for hours is still a raw, painful wound...

Congratulation Keith!!

What a great feeling that must have been!!  I know that when I recently traveled to Mexico, I felt small in my seat on the plane and loved seeing the extra room I still had left on the belt.

You are such an inspiration to me, I do not post much but I read often. I love reading your post, they keep me motivated!!

Continued success Keith!!

I'm flying to my home town next week and can't wait to see the difference from when I went home at Christmas. I had lost 44kgs then and it was the first time in my adult life I didn't need a seatbelt extender. I was sitting on the plane grinning like a Cheshire Cat!

So I can't wait to see the difference at 76kgs down. I'm thinking I may actually have quite a few inches spare myself.

I booked a trip to LA a couple of days ago for the end of July and honestly, I can't wait to fly long haul for the first time ever as a "normal" sized person. I'm actually looking forward to it for a change (I'm sure I will be over it by 3 hours into the 12 hour flight though!...lol). And oh the shopping I'm going to do!! I used to spend hours in Lane Bryant stocking up, but now I will have so much more choice.

Undoubtedly my spending will bolster the Californian economy!...lol
