Eat Your Fats!

I have said it a bunch of times! Don't eat low fat, eat your healthy fats. Here is some support for this, pay attention to the MUFA section.

So eat your nuts, seeds, avocados, olives, olive oil. They are calorie dense so don't make a meal out of them if you are watching calories. This does not mean go out and eat a pound of saturated fats, which you should eat as little of as you can so when doctors say eat low fat, they really mean eat low saturated fats. Many dairy products have high saturated fats, so be careful with full fats yogurts and milks. You do want to eat low saturated fats.

Thanks Spalding (sorry random Caddy Shack reference lol!).  This does make very good sense.  I truly believe we need a healthy combination of proteins/veg/fats, etc, to get to our optimum health goals.

Thanks for sharing!

Interesting and it makes perfect sense. I'm not sure I agree with the nutritionist on what a complex carbhydrate is, though. :-)

I don't recall what she said about complex carbohydrates I will have to go back and listen again. A complex carbohydrate is a whole grain, something unprocessed. The terminology seems a bit counterintuitive to me.

She called whole wheat pasta and a whole wheat tortilla complex carbs. Not so much to me. Too processed in my book.

Yeah I agree. It may have some complex carbs and certainly some whole wheat pastas are better than some, but I sorta feel that once you mill it into flour you may have crossed a line.

Also, as a side note about Carbs, milk and yogurt are 'high' in Carbs.  Relatively speaking.  The ideal dairy would be some butter or heavy whipping cream whipped with Stevia, over some blueberries, once every other day.
