NSV - why shopping, of course! (with photo)

So, I went to Target to get some rashguards for my little one, and I ended up trying on some shorts bc I have this mad desire to have colored shorts.  I have a private mommy group I'm in, and we've all been friends since we were pregnant over two years ago.  It's 100+ women, so when I don't know whether I should buy something, I ask them.  They are very honest, so I won't end up looking like a train wreck :)  I wasn't sure about this outfit, so I posted in our group.  I was met with comments I was unprepared for.  Some of them were "skinny *****" "those shorts are TOO LONG,"  "you need to show off your sexy legs," etc.  I have larger legs.  i always have.  At 147 pounds, I can wear knee high boots, but not all kinds.  I don't mind my legs, but they aren't skinny and I've never thought of them as particularly sexy.  Strong, muscular, those I can see.  Anyways, I'm currently in a stall (what the **** else is new?) so it was a very nice ego boost.  We need all the victories we can get, no?  Color anything and shorts in general are major NSVs for me in the clothing areal.  I will probably return the yellow shorts, but I did buy some shorter coral ones (you can see in the background).  Highly recommend those!  They have about a 3.5-4in inseam, relatively small leg holes which I like since I have no desire to look like I'm wearing a skort, and they do NOT have slash pockets.  I loathe slash pockets.  Talk about a way to make your hips look bigger.

I agree with your Mommy group, the shorter ones are better for you. Show more leg. You've earned it Deena. I like the coral ones. Take the yellow ones back. Get some white shorts. You would have shyed away from white in the past and they will look great in the summer. Black and white is hot together and all kinds of candy colored t shirts and tops will look great with the white shorts. I do like the coral shorts though.

The ONLY reason I haven't pulled the plug on white shorts & white skinny crops which I really want is bc I have a toddler, and I'm really bad about wiping her then wiping my pants :)  They have the coral shorts in white, maybe I should exchange :)  I have always shied away from white, and I still can't get it out of my head that I'm too big for it although I WANT IT.  Hahaha

I had to get white shorts and white crop pants too! I love my white skinny crop pants. Found some Chicos size 0 on Ebay. They are jeans material and have a tasteful amount of sparkly bling on the back pockets! I make opportunities to wear them and my skinny jeans.
