I have been taking a lot of supplements lately. Mostly because I am trying to build muscle. This is a good article to help maximize the benefits of taking supplements. This is a good what to take and when type of article:

Thanks Keith! I'm pretty good about taking mine at the correct time. Have you found a good Casein protein powder? I haven't tried one yet, but it suppose to digest slowly overnight so it will also keep you satiated in addition to helping your muscles. And, I'm not doing creatine at this time.

Optimum Nutrition is a good place to start. Right now I am using up a tub of Cookies and Cream which is only ok at best. I have used their Chocolate Whey which was decent. I will try a more normal flavor when I get through this tub. I don't know about satieted because I drink it about 30 mins before bed. It supposed to keep you from using muscle for fuel. Its kinda harsh on your stomach. What I am also not so sure about is how slow digesting it is for VSG patients. It depends what digestion means. If it means slow to pass through the pyloric valve, then that probably doesn't work so well for us, but if its slow to digest in the small intestine then we are good to go.

Creatine is actually pretty good but it does make you retain water so only take it if you are not going to freak out when your weight loss slows down or your scale suddenly shoots up a bit. Other than that it makes your workouts much better.

Hey Keith, sorry to bug you but what are you eating prior to your workouts? I have a pre-workout drink but have also been fitting in 1/2 cup brown rice. My trainer wants me to have at least 30g of carbs before hand so I can make it through my workouts. On Sunday I only did a pre-workout drink and had a hard time getting through the 60 minute boot camp. I'm always looking for ideas to get that energy boost. I should let you know that I'm 10lbs below my weight goal and am actually trying to gain in the muscle department. I don't have much fat left to burn so need to get the energy from my diet now.
