Trip to visit in-laws--a little unsure.
It is really worth figuring out, one is a great reward and you feel empowered, the other is a way to numb discomfort and you would feel slightly out of body, and depersonalized. One is walking you to your power, the other is just doing the same thing we used to do. It is subtle, but very important difference.
Good luck. And, one more thought - don't forget the power of a simple, straightforward, "no thanks". Don't give details, or rationale, or anything they can get a hook into to start picking at. Think of it like a door to door salesperson. What works best? "No thanks". No judgment, no arguing, no hating. Just a statement.
Hang in there girl!
Sleeved 6/12/13 - 100 pounds lost to get to goal!
Hmmm. The thing that makes me feel most empowered is exercise. So, by this definition, my time at the Y would be my reward.
Who the hell am I becoming??????
Whether this helps on this visit or not (and I know it will), the knowledge that exercise makes me feel like I'm "walking into my power" is a game-changer. Thanks, Elina!! (as always)
I believe right now I'm going to say I "earn" an hour at the gym for every day we are in Idaho--so 3-4 times depending on when we arrive and what time we depart. And, after I make that happen and meet my food plan goals, when we get back, I am going shopping and buying myself some really great lingerie, even though doing so when I'm not at goal is probably a waste of $$. I know you know this area, so suggestions of stores other than VS are welcome.
I'm pretty sure that's one waste of $$ hubby won't mind. :)
I know a great little store in Los Gatos, I will even go with you. I love this little treasure of a place. The woman that owns it is an amazing person and she really get body issues and how to work with our population. In addition, she has great taste and the prices are very reasonable (by boutique standards of course). I'll go with you anytime.
I think your idea about the exercise is fantastic and you are really getting this whole thing down. I am glad I can help a bit.

Good luck Sarah. I'd feel the same way if I had to spend a week with my MIL. It's hard to be around negative people. You know what you're getting into though so that should help! Remember we are all here for you! :)
