Vacation Weight GONE!
New weight is always easier to lose than old weight. A lot of my weight was probably water. I did not drink nearly enough fluids on vacation (except beer and moonshine) and we went to Tennessee for a good old southern hog roast and that means lots and lots and lots of salt. So I would imagine once I got the right fluids going and broke a couple good sweats that is mostly what I was holding. Even though I didn't make great food choices, they were mostly a bite of this and a bite of that, nothing like eating a bag of candy or a box of cookies.
One very interesting thing happened. I was very tired on the ride home so I grabbed a zero carb red bull and I thought a little sugar might give me a boost so I grabbed a Snickers bar, one of my favorite candies the old me loved. I was blown away when it didn't taste good. My mother in law (a candy-holic) said, "Did it taste like the best thing ever?" and I truthfully had to say, "No, it tastes like ass." I am both happy and sad about that. Now the orange slice (candy) that she loves that she got from Cracker Barrel that I stole (mind you just one, old me would have eaten a whole bag without stopping) tasted like heaven and I was totally able to eat just one.
The potato chip I stole at the pig feast (again just one, ok 2) was delicious and I had a hard time not going back for...well...the rest of the bag. But I didn't. I do have control now that I didn't before.
So while there were off plan moments on my vacation, most (85%) of my eating was true to our ways.
Don't over think it. Its not that hard to stay on plan depending on where you are going or what you are doing. I only had off plan moments, not off plan days, so the key is if you step out, step right back in and try to stick to your plan as closely as you can. My biggest mistake was not drinking enough fluids. I am certain I was mostly carrying water weight.
