I have the same issue with Walgreens. Used to be my favorite spot to buy binge food. Danger! Danger!

You know, Ann, we all have our demons (triggers, fave foods, cravings, etc... You know what I mean....). So candy and junk food are yours. Mine? Cookies, naturally and many other high, high sugar foods, but homemade chewy, gooey cookies seem to have the ability to lay me flat.

I really wanted to be "normal" and be able to have my beloved cookies now and again. And guess what? I can, but one cookie ends up being not enough and way too much all at the same time. I have tried and tried to moderate my consumption of these delights. I finally realized last May, that my idea of moderation just wasn't working. I needed to do something else. I chose to abstain from cookies and all baked goods for 30 days. I told my partner and my best friends and pretty much everyone at school. So from May 10 to June 10th I abstained. This approach really worked for me. I went on vacation on the 11th and eased up (well, frankly, indulged) during vacation. I came home and got back on track and went back to my no cookie rule.

I've gotten used to it. The cookies just set me off. It's easier not to eat them. Perhaps this is something you can consider. It's not forever - just 30 days. Then if you feel like it, have some candy. But maybe, just maybe, you'll be free enough that you'll realize the candy just isn't worth it to you in the long run. Who knows.

Anyhow, you're awesome and I loved your post. You always keep it real. This is not an easy journey. We all have our own struggles. It is so wonderful that you willingly share yours with us.

Great job tonight!  Do you have a CVS with a drive thru?  Then you wouldn't be tempted - you don't see the stuff!

Walgreens use to be one of my favorite haunts. What finally broke the habit for me was getting all of my meds through the mail.

Good job just walking away.

I use the drive through at Walgreens, and I refuse to go into a gas station.  If my kids need a drink, I send in one of my teenagers!   It does stink just a bit, as I had just in the past few years started going into gas stations (previous heavy smoker here) but, it's not like my family wasn't used to going in for me!  At least I can get my own gas now :)
