What's Your Workout Today VSGers? - Monday!
Lower back is still bothering me a bit but definitely better. I think I will be back at it by tomorrow or Wednesday. For today I am going to modify my workouts a bit and get a bit more cardio. Today I will still do my bench presses, my standing row and lat pulldowns. But I am going to cut out the military press, burpees, and shuttle runs.
For my run tonight I started a new run yesterday that I am testing out this week. Its a HIIT Run. It starts with a 5 minute warmup walk, right into a 30 second sprint, 3 minute job, 30 second sprint, then a 1 minute walk. You repeat this 3 times. The whole thing takes 20 minutes and yesterday I was as soaked as I am when I finish a 5k. I may add a few more repeats as I go, but I have to tell you I felt pretty spent after just 20 minutes. So we will see how this goes this week.
Are you doing any post workout stretching? I have noticed since I started doing that, I am not nearly as sore and my soreness does not last as long. Also cold baths or cold showers after help to keep some of the post workout swelling and inflamation down too which reduces soreness. I may be becoming a sadist but I rather enjoy the soreness sometimes.
I have an inground pool in the backyard so I just jump in after a run and it really helps to keep my legs from gettting sore.
I love the soreness! Helps reaffirm that I really did work hard :) I do stretch after every workout. My thighs & butt took a real beating last week with running (albeit slowly) and all the kickboxing and the hundreds of squats I do weekly. High kicks really work my inner thighs bc I kick really high :)
I wish we had a pool. That sounds lovely
