Freaking Hungry Today!

I hate this, it happens every couple of weeks, not sure what causes it, it will be gone tomorrow. I don't think its head hunger. I am not bored, I am not stressed, getting lots of protein, plenty of sleep, lots of water, lots of exercise, no stomach acid, plenty of vitamins. All variables pretty normal just hungry. Its frustrating.

Oh well, just have to ride it out I guess. Just want to share my misery today.

Ya know the old Freudian quote - sometimes a cigar is just a cigar?  Well, sometimes hunger is just hunger.  You work out alot and expend a lot of calories.

Is it possible that your body is telling you that it is hungry?  If so, can that trigger a "bad eating" day for you later, or should you up your protein and veggies and little?

If you weren't a complete exercise maniac, I'd think differently - but you gotta fuel the machine!

Keith, I have to tell you the truth. It heartens me to know that someone who has been as successful as you have been with your sleeve still experiences these random acts of hunger. It helps me a newbie sleever to know that it happens, it's normal, and it'll pass. Appreciate your candor and your wisdom every day! Ellen

I feel your pain. I think we all relate to this Keith. It is what it is. Even people who haven't had VSG experience it. Ride it out like you said. Easier said than done I know. Just make a plan now so that all your choices will be good ones like raw veggies, hummus, hard boiled eggs, lean meat, things that will satiate you and give you restriction.

Sorry. That does suck!

I do think it happens to all of us. I know it happens to me. When it does, I have myself a lot of extra protein. Helps me stay satisfied throughout the day.

I get this way, too.  It's always a little startling because before VSG it would spell the beginning of the end for my diet, and I'd go back to my old way of eating.  Now it's just some days I'm hungry and most days I'm really not.  You have to ride it out, or maybe you do need some extra fuel now and again for all of the calories you're burning.

I'm really replying because I finally looked at your pinterest board and was blown away!!!  It is so inspiring, thanks for sharing.

In addition to upping the protein, after I added grains back to my diet, I make sure my grain choices for the day are especially filling. So oatmeal with breakfast, brown rice or quinoa with lunch, and sweet potato with dinner are typical grain choices for me on hungrier days. And I chose a more filling option for dairy, so generally non-fat greek yogurt there.

I know you already know these things, just putting it out there for newbies who might be reading the thread.

I eat more on those days.  Usually it's only 100-200 calories more, usually it's protein, but I allow myself to eat more.  I trust myself enough to know that it's actual hunger (not boredom, loneliness, stress, anxiety).  Some days I'm just really freaking starving.  Some days I'm not hungry at all.  It's like how my toddler eats - she's got hollow leg syndrome right now (Fatty ate FOUR pieces of pizza at school on Friday and she's not even a huge fan of pizza), but give it a day or two and I'll be back to thinking she is getting nutrition from photosynthesis since she won't EAT ANYTHING.  Don't be miserable.  Have a nutritious snack :)
