If that happened to me, I would drink some hot tea.  By that time I've had my four meals and all of the food I'm going to have for the day.

On the very rare occasions I've wanted to eat outside of what I planned for, the hot tea has worked very well.

I chew the extras dessert gum, drink coffee or SF hot chocolate.  I also have SF fudgesicles in my freezer that are only 40 calories. They take a while to eat and my family likes them so it keeps the worst stuff out of the house.

The biggest impact on my night eating was to switch my gym time to 7p.m.  I eat dinner 5:30 to 6, clean up and go to the gym.  It's 8 before I get back so that's only 2 more hours.  Plus, after the gym I'm always thirsty so I'm pushing water for the most part.  Since I have to choose between drinking and eating, drinking wins.

I also will drink some hot tea, but if I am craving salty and crunchy tea isnt gonna do the trick. I make kale chips. Spray kale with pam, I sprinkle on mrs. dash lime seasoning and bake it.  It gets really light and crispy and satisfies my craving.
