Ritalin

I have taken adderall xr and non-extended release.  The non XR I feel more prominently during the first 4 hours and seems to be a bit more effective, but the XR does last a little longer... but only 6 hours or so.  No idea if that is because of absorption issues.  On my next doc appointment I will be asking if she thinks it is better for my system (i.e. less addictive) if I take a dose on non xr in the morning, and later in the day or adjust my xr dose.  Right now, I can get through my teaching day OK, but my grad classes at night the stuff is completely worn off.  It is a careful balance between managing symptoms, not becoming physically addicted to the crap, and staying up all night because your symptoms are managed but now you can't sleep.    I wish there was a cure for ADHD instead of just treatment for the symptoms.

Doc put me on Vyvance. Of course they say it lasts 14 hours. Try 6. So I feel like I have to pick acting normal at work or home. So, I write a bunch of to do lists for work and take my meds at home. I take it at 2 or 3 PM. I does not keep me up. Actually, it wears off after 6 hours, so at least I am good Til my kids go to bed. When it wears off though I find I can't stay awake. I am hoping after this month my doc will decide it's OK to take twice a day. If not, I guess I am SOL. It's hard knowing there is something that will make me feel normal, but only for a quarter of the day.

More sleeve than ritalin.  I take adderall, and I do notice a difference when I take it- but not substantial.  The sleeve when I was freshly post op, on the other hand, eliminated appetite significantly.
