What's Your Workout Today VSGers? - Thursday!

Sleeved 6/12/13 - 100 pounds lost to get to goal!
Since I did the 30 minute circuit- which took a little longer than 30, maybe 35 ( i was with my dad and had to keep an eye on him since he has CHF and is new back at the gym) but IT WAS GREAT!! I felt so awesome after it! You go on a machine for about a minute then you switch to a step and you can do anything on it, for now I kept it simple but I moved fast to keep my heart rate up.
I am short so even adjusting the seats I had to stand up or reach down to get a grip on the handles which made my dad laugh. He helped me and showed me properly how to use them so I dont strain myself. I didnt think I would be as winded and sweaty as I was doing 60 minutes of cardio on the treadmill/ellipitical but OH I WAS! I will do this for a while to bring myself into it, plus do those free weights I have at home on my few days of no gym. I planned on doing them while I watch tv but lately I just don't SIT and watch tv!! I have so much more energy I am usually on the go.
That being said, no gym today, but I am going out with my friend and my 4yr old god daughter, so there will be plenty of moving around anyway. No sitting for this chick!
That's awesome, maybe look into the C25K program. It gets you ready for a 5K in 9 weeks. If you ran for 3 minutes, you can probably start with week 3. I never in my life thought I would enter a foot race, particularly one that I had to pay for. I have done 6 now and I have another one coming up in a couple weeks. I have spent about $1000 (between me and my wife and kids) on race entries in the past 6 months. Money well spent.

"Sex, Weights, and Protein Shakes." Oh my Keith!!!
No gym today. But it's beautiful outside so after work I'm going for a walk with my kids and the dog. I'll be pulling my two youngest (ages 3 & 5) in a little red wagon. I'd do lunges on the sidewalk, but I think I might embarrass my oldest daughter (almost 10) who for some reason thinks I'm uber embarrassing already.
Walks are perfect. Not only will it allow your achilles to heal, its the best way to burn fat. The pool is a great tool to keep your weight off your tendons too. While you are in the pool stand in place and swim with your arms, go as fast and as steady as you can for as long as you can. That would be better than the arm bike we talked about.
Also remember after your walk to spend a few minutes doing leg stretches. That will help your achilles heal and you will also get more and more mobility from it. Just be gentle, stretching doesn't necessarily mean all out it just means stretch it to where you can feel it and hold it for a bit (25-45 seconds). Only do this with warmed up muscles though, never do it cold, you will hurt your tendons more.
