What size sleeve produces best results with no complications?
I am either a 40 or 44- can't remember which. I am also very tall (long stomach) and the sleeve is loosely sewn- so about as big as it can get for that bougie size.

Low calories, initially starting at less than 300 per day, that was the first week, gradually increased, averaged 450 - 600, until month six, i was getting 700 - 800 per day, I reached my doctor's goal in just under 5 months (150), MY goal reached at six months. (145) When I had my surgery, 32 was very common, I think some doctors have gone to a larger size, 34 of 36 due to some issues. I had none, I wanted a 32 and am glad I was able to get that back then.
You really can't compare size by the "number" You could have a surgeon that uses a 34f and end up with a larger sleeve than someone whose surgeon uses a 38f. If you have a longer stomach and your surgeon uses a looser technique than the surgeon using a 38f on somebody with a short stomach, the person with the 34f may hold 4-6 oz while the 38f holds 3-4 oz. How they start and stop can make a big difference too.
Don't get hung up on a number like stated. Look at how many they have done, complication/leak rates and the success of those sleeved. I would be looking at your eating habits and issues if trying to decide between VGS and DS. Also remember the VSG was the first stage of the two part DS and due to the success of those with just the first surgery, they choose not to have the DS by-pass second surgery.
