Better than bypass?

I met a lady here in my hometown who had VSG a year ago. She only needed to lose 100 lbs. She lost 50-60. Now, that's not "bad" perse', but I saw what she was eating. I was at the local Hastings (book/video store) which has a coffee shop inside. I was ordering a basic coffee with nothing in it and added a few splenda. She ordered pastries and a high cal coffee and she was eating and drinking at the same time. I told her about Obesityhelp and how helpful it is but I know she was too worried about her food and coffee. I left her alone with a smile and well wishes. She seemed very happy with her weight loss and I hope and pray she can keep off what she's lost. I hope she finds a site like this. This site helped me get to goal and also following tips from successful WLS maintainers on Youtube like Amysdmom, bandedwendy etc. There are a FEW other sleeve forums that are decent and have some successful VSG'ers but this site has the highest amount. I HAVE met a few other locals who have done VERY well and they all either came to the few VSG forums that have successful tips, or were lucky enough to have a good surgeon with a solid aftercare program :-).
You are VERY inspiring!! Keep up the good work!
I'm glad that the person you know in real life is happy with her loss. It is a shame though to know that the tool can be worked in a better way for better results though. Hopefully she is not only happy, but healthy as well!
Thank you for the kind words! Congrats on maintaining below your goal weight. I hope to be there someday and will need lots of encouragement and tips in that stage of the journey I'm sure! :)

Whoohooo! That's awesome. Glad to see it's going so well for you!! I decided on the RNY, scheduled Sept 9th. Thanks for all your input you gave me. I appreciate it! Reading your posts are making me feel more excited about having it done. I can't wait to share my story. Have you started a work out routine yet? Curious to see what you have been doing for that.
Keep it up!!!
Heather
The only exercise I've been getting so far is A LOT of walking. I know that I need to start lifting weights and doing some cardio that actually gets me sweating. I just need to DO IT. I've been wanting to get a membership to a gym, but I've been spending so much money on clothes... it's difficult to budget for a membership!!

Nikke I stopped by my surgeon's office today to pick up the lab slip for my blood work up tomorrow. It's been 6 months since be seeing the doctor and hit it lucky that the NUT was there and she came out to see me. We talked about the commitment level it truly takes to hit goal and maintain. Its been close to 19 months post op for me and it will always be about making the right choices and moderation.
The office asked me today if I would be a mentor for their new patients and post op patients. I jumped at the chance knowing this support will also help keep me on the straight and narrow. This is work and about making the right choices.
You are doing this the right way and should be proud of all of your success.
