I tried it. The answer is I can't plank. Used to be able to. I'm going to add this as one of my post-op goals: be able to plank. It'll tie in nicely with my goal of being able to do yoga again.
Surprisingly planks are one of the easiest exercises to improve on day by day, you just have to do them. Sadly they never get easier, you just get stronger.
Just wanted to let you know that not being able to get into plank position irritated me enough that I actually worked out. Not for very long--I'm pre-op, so MO and have orthopedic issues, but hey, it's more than I normally do. Thanks for annoying me enough to get off my butt. :)
That's great! Keep it up a little each day will make a big difference. Pre-op is a great time to build muscle because you can still eat the right amount of food for muscle building. After surgery it is much more difficult.
Have you ever done planks with your feet in ropes? We do that in kettlebells, and I have finally been able to move from just planking like that to do doing crows. Pikes are my next goal :)
