Old Fat

For those of you who have either gotten to your goal or are close, do you sort of feel like the fat you are down to or down to when you were close is like the old fat that you have to sort of wake up. You know the fat that has been there since you started eating more than one twinkie at a time. The fat that has been the building block and foundation of all the other fat you have managed to get rid of. I mean I am working harder than I have in this entire process and I have been teetering between the same 10-15 lbs for like over a month.

In my mind this is like old hard fat that needs a little help from cold or heat or a smack to wake it up and get it moving again.

Oh well, just a random thought, no responses necessary.

YESSSSSSS! Ok, granted I haven't followed your advice to the T and I could be doing better. I have a lot in life going on right now that is just trying to be a road barrier but I am still at it. I am haven't really lost anything in weeks (I don't want to add the weeks, that sounds worse). I am teetering between a lb here and there give and take. It is driving me nuts.

This must be like my original fat, the first fat I ever put on when I was like 6 and it is stubborn as all get out.

I just want to take a quick second to apologize to all the skinny people that I ever wanted to stab in the neck with a dull spoon for *****ing about loosing weight when they complained about how hard it was for them to lose weight. Ugh...don't tell them I admitted I was sorry.

Yeah, it's a ******! It wants to stay there for dear life. It's hard to get rid of. I went pretty hard core the last two months just to lose the last 11 pounds. It also came back really easily once I eased up, I'm sad to say. Still working on getting rid of those last stubborn as hell 8 pounds. I'm doing it very slowly though, because I want them to stay off and honestly, I can't do the hard core super low calorie thing anymore. 1200 calories is super, super low for me - especially with my exercise level. I'm most comfortable around 1400 in WL mode. I kinda miss my early VSG days when 700-800 calories a day was adequate. Not so anymore.

Not sure what you're doing to lose the last bit, but what worked for me was just super consistent food plan (no "mixing it up" type of stuff) and exercise.

I have no doubts that you'll lose it. You're determined.

I think it's awesome that you had a point in your life where you ate one Twinkie at a time! They're TWINkies, after all.

Not to make light of your issue. I am nowhere near having that problem, but I hope you are able to get the old fat moving!

I know -- I hear little voices from my fat cells screaming, "No, No!  We've been with you your WHOLE life!  You can't shrink us down to nothing!  We won't go! What if there's a famine -- you'll be sorry then!"

Ugh!  I'm ramping up my activity -- or trying to -- we went to dance class last night and it was cancelled for the holidays -- and the gym closes early the rest of the week.  So I am actually taking off early to go to the gym on Friday.

Keep up the good work -- I'm putting my money on you (not that old fat!) to win this battle!

OMG...YES!!!  I've been fighting the last 12 pounds (between 12 and 15) for the last 3 months.  Now I know I have a little battle fatigue in me as well but man...I just can't lost those last pounds and I know I have had them  my entire life.  They are the pounds that made me feel fat way back when and they are the pounds that made me say "what the heck is the difference if I eat another piece of pie, I'm fat anyway"...foundation block to my 311 lbs record weight.  I'm starting a new workout regiment on Monday...I WILL WIN THIS ROUND!!!! lol

Yes those last pounds are a ***** It took me 10 months to get to a normal BMI and almost another YEAR to get where I am now. Which was another 22 - 25 additional pounds. I too work out like you do. I've been working out like a crazy woman for the better part of 25 years. I was doing hours of cardio a week and lifting heavy 3 times a week. The good news is that once I got here, I don't have to do nearly as much exercise to maintain. I've been able to cut cardio to 3 half hour sessions per week and of course I've kept up the same lifting routine.  I also can consume a lot more calories now. I stayed in the 1000 calorie range forever it seemed and now am closer to 1800. So, less gym time and more food in maintenance...go figure!  You'll get there, just keep on keeping on. And by the way, I'll be 5 years out in January and have had no regain. Exercise is soooo important as are good food choices. I am still very restricted and must continue to have a shake a day. I've always under eaten my capacity and can still not eat 3oz of protein at one time.

You got this!
