Exercise, Nutrition, WLS & Cooking Q&A - 11/18/2013
I wasn't familiar with T25 so I had to go look it up. Here are a couple of thoughts on it. First the guy who created it also created Insanity which is a pretty intense workout so will you burn calories? Yes and that is what is most important about your exercise regimine. The next thought and this goes with anything related to exercise and weight loss is that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I don't think you are going to get ripped and a 6 pack by doing T25. Now from what I can see it is a fast pased HIIT workout, so really you are going to get similar results from this or a Tabata routine or just plain old HIIT jog. So my take on this is if it looks like fun to you, then it is worth trying out because if it is fun you are more likely to stick with it and anything you can stick to will benefit you greatly in the long run. Just keep in mind that no matter what the exercises are there are only so many calories you can possibly burn in 25 minutes. Now I can also tell you that the reason those guys are getting 6 pack abs from it is that the exercise I saw all require a tight core so it looks like you will be getting a lot of core work. So if you do not have a strong core now the pace that that routine goes at is going to be tough. You can also get a 6 pack by doing a core routine about 1 time a week.
That's my 2 cents.
OK...so my next question...do you have any suggestions for a good couch to 5K training regimine?
Other than my stair climb, I'd like to cross of a 5K run off my bucket list next year. I'm walking, now and need to increase my cardiovascular stamina (obviously, right!). I think I should be able to train for both concurrently as the jog/run should benefit me with the climb. Any suggestions?
if you have an iphone or an ipod touch the Active.com app is really good. It got me ready for a 5k from walking and not being able to run a whole minute to finishing a 5k in 10 weeks. Its really good. Just do what it tells you to do and when it tells you to do it for as long as it tells you to do it. Really good stuff.
