I was so excited to post on this thread today. I met a goal that I have been working on for the past month or so. I did the bike today for 31mins. This is the first day that I was able to do the full workout in one sitting. I had been splitting it up into 2-3 bike rides a day of 10-15mins. I feel very accomplished today!

Fantastic! That is great. Improving your endurance is an important part of exercise. Great achievement and congrats on the goal. I remember the first time I got to 30 mins on the treadmill walking and then a little while later 60 mins and then 60 mins followed by a weight workout. All great feelings.

Honestly though you probably were getting more out of your 2 to 3 bike rides. So you kinda need to do both. So don't think that just because you had to split it up that it wasn't effective. A very effective technique on the bike, treadmill, or elliptical is to shoot for a 20 minute workout but you have to play with your heart rate so the pattern would look something like this. 5 minute warm up to a steady heart rate (fat burn range) for 2 minutes, then pedal as fast as you can for 30 secs to 1 minute, then steady for 2 mins again (or until your heart rate returns to that fat burn range), then repeat that. You will burn more calories in 20 mins of this than 40 at the same pace and your body will continue to burn calories for some time after your workout. This is called HIIT or High Intensity Interval Training. You will see a lot of this and there are many many patterns of this depending on your fitness level.

But Congrats and keep up the great work!
